my car says its overheating

its a 2002 tl with 108k it has a new thermostat just flushed the radiator. the water pump and radiator seem to be fine the fluid levels are always where they should be. the car starts fine and runs at normal temp for about 15 min then the temp goes way up if you turn the heat on it wiill go back to normal temp and if you turn the heat off it will stay ant a normal temp for a little bit then go back up but i dont really think it is hot could it be the coolant temperature sensor

did you bleed the system?
Does the radiator fan turn on when the car reaches operating temp?

To bleed the system.

WITH THE ENGINE COLD!!!! - very important you do not want to remove the radiator cap with the engine hot.

Remove the radiator cap and start the engine
Let the car come to normal operating temp (needle just under half way up on gauge)
Shut off engine
Reinstall radiator cap
Start engine
See if temp needle issue is resolved.

the ac runs to passenger side fan, and the driver side when needed for extra cooling

In this case one or 2 things are wrong
Was it a HONDA from the dealer thermostat?- if not go buy one- aftermarket ones and the TL are not good together

Next- Burp the system per your years owner book- thats releasing trapped air bubble that gets behind the thermostat and fakes out the fan sensors and guages

https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...01_OMANUAL.asp
click your year then model- wait for pdf file to open and the index will take you anywhere

MUST turn heater to full hot so its part of the system while burping

Every year has special tricks so read the owner book

Did you also drain the engine block thru that small rear block bolt? info in owner book
