My Baby's first Owie ('99TL,.. that says a lot!)
So got out to my car the other day (the day before Thanksgiving) and look what I found waiting for me:
Tried to open the door and found that it would open, but only half way because the front edge of the door would bind against the damaged quarter panel.
The thing that sucks about it is that I know what happened and I'm pretty sure who did it. On our street it's not inconceivable for someone to back out of their driveway and hit a car in the street. Unfortunately this time it was my baby who got hit. But the bastard that did it didn't leave a note. I've filed a 'hit and run' report, and now I just have to call my insurance rep.
It sucks,.. but what ya gonna do...

EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME except my driver's side door would not open. My deductible was not cheap either.

I don't know what happened with the picts. Let's try this:
Update: found the car that did it,.. a black 2005 Mustang that parks in the spot coresponding to the accident. Has the scratches exactly where you would expect it. Now I'm just tryin to figure out if I should confront the guy, suck it up and pay the deductible, or notify the cops.

Police Report=Now think about it buddy. If he was a good guy, he would have left a note/contacted you already. CONTACT THE POLICE>at least the next time he does it, he will know that there is a chance he will be caught! He will be fined. It's against the law to hit and run, even in a parking lot.

Don't be stupid.
1) Take pics of his car
2) Confront him (in a nice way about it)
3) If he agrees to pay out of pocket, get something in writing, with his signature and a witness
4) If he refuses, contact the police

The problem is that I have no hard evidence. He could easily say that the damage to his car was from a previous accident. And I already told the cops about the car and they came out to look at it. The cop was pretty cool about it and even told me that when he goes to confront the guy, he plans on telling him that he has more hard evidence than he really has. Problem was that supposedly the guy wasn't home. The other thing that the cop told me is that the best he could do is help mediate a resolution, because at this point it's a civil mater.
I've just filed an insurance claim (I was going to try to fix it myself, just for fun, but I have a $250 deductible so I'm not gonna sweat it). But now I want to see if I can get something outta this.... question is... If I take it to an Acura dealer for repairs, do you think they will give me a loaner? I'd love to drive the newest TL for a couple of days.

Oh you better believe that if someone did that to my baby and ran away from it, there would be hell to pay! Screw reporting it to the cops,.. I'd be knockin' on his door with baseball bat.
At least with mine I can (probably shouldn't, but I do) give the guy the benefit of the doubt and say that he may not have even known that he hit my car as he was backing out.
