my axel snapped off from my car
front driver side of axel snapped off from my 99TL while i was making right turn ( i did not hit anything). im soooo mad cause my insurance company said they will not pay for the damage if it was caused by wear and tear. i did drop my car 2.75" with H&R racing springs. i dont know what to do Is it normal to axel to snap because I lowered my car? I will post pic soon

OK - just out of curiosity, what happens when your axel snaps? Does that mean that your car basically just hits the pavement???? I've NEVER heard of an axel snapping, and judging by the sound of you guys, I hope it NEVER happens to me! At least your ok!

damn that sux. If i were you i would have told the insurance company that you ran over something that flew off a truck or that you hit a city pothole. That way, it is not your fault and you will be covered. But since you told them that the axle snapped when just driving you might be a$$ed out.

It's not too expensive to fix. Half-shafts should run you a few hundred.
Here's a pic of what you broke.

My front right drive axle was replaced under warranty due to that wooble I was experiencing for the last couple of months.....the dealer told me it was due to my drop (comptech springs), but i don't buy it cause it was only the driver side and the passenger side was reported to be fine

auto insurance is only supposed to cover an accident (something hitting your car) or vandalism. If they started covering every mechanical thing that happened our premiums would be 10 times higher then what we all normally pay.
An axle snapping is really strange. Are you sure there was no damage to it before from bottoming out or something? If the body shop can say it was becasue of an object on the road or something then you can probably get the insurance to pay. How much is it to just fix the mechanical stuff (no body work) just to get the car running again? $3600 doesn't sound bad for the amount of damage you're describing. I hit a box that fell out of the truck in front of me and it cost about 2K to replace the front bumper cover, take some dings and scratches out of the passenger side, and repaint the bumper and fender. Insurance did cover me though since the delivery truck dropped stuff onto the freeway and there was no way for me to avoid it.

A reman axle completely assemblied wholesales for 90.00. What did you do? For 3600 sounds like your getting a trans.
Once again take some pictures - get some detailed shots of what they say needs to be replaced... this body shop might have you leaving grabbing your ankles....

Yeah that sucks.. Happened in my 92 Accord as well. But yeah axle grease was all over the place.. But I was going really slow. It damaged my front door since the fender cave in. Nothing you can really do. And the car waas bone stock with 92K miles.
