My Accident

So the other day I was driving home, and some guy stops in front of me to turn into a bank (not using the turning lane).... so then I stopped real fast, checked if anyone was going to hit me from behind (traffic was going about 40-45) and the car behind me had stopped also ... or so I thought. Then about five seconds later ..... WHAM... she nailed my car because some truck nailed her, pushing her into me. So finally after I got the courage to get out and look at the damage, I noticed that my car was the ONLY CAR THAT WAS DAMAGED

....I thought it was pretty wierd that my rear end was damaged without any damage done to the other cars at all.... the truck that hit the car behind me had to be going at least 20-25mph for my car to have as much damage as it does, but the the grand am bumper had only scratches (on the front and back bumpers)

Ill post pics when I get on later today...

Hey, join the club. I wrecked my car two nights ago and it's disabled. I'm looking at about 2,000+ dollars' worth of damages.

eep,. sorry to hear that... I would say that you are lucky that your vehicle will get damaged, it means that the impact buffers are working... if you had a solid vehicle that when hit didn't do anything, then yu would be in trouble when a real accident would happen. So with safety there are definately trade-offs...

I used to work at a dealership, and you would hear people come in and say "my 198x blablabla was the most safe car in the world, I could drive through a house and not get any damage"... then I pointed out the fact that vehicles like that killed people.... might not hurt the person inside, but the other people....bad.... and what happens when you get 2 'tanks' that hit eachother?... ya... bad news.

thats what most dont understand about new cars. they think cause they see all this damage the cars arent built as well or you arent as safe, but its the other way around

Yeah... the person behind me was kind of shaken up, but it was nothing too serious, while it was not too bad at all for me.

I guess the grand am and the truck were a low speed version of the 2 'tanks' hitting each other.

Also, speaking of absorbing the impact.... If my bumper didnt take most of the impact then I might have end up being a 4 car wreck, instead of 3 on account of me being catapulted into the guy who stopped in front of me. Luckily that was not the case

I'm glad your okay..and no one got seriously hurt...that's the main thing. You should be glad that you didn't bought any nissan car...or else your whole rear end and middle would've gotten F*ed up badly.

One thing to remember... cars can always be fixed... people however... we aren't built to be rebuilt.

I believe that the truck who caused the whole wreck will be at fault.... but I am not 100% positive.

His Insurance company has not called me back a second time to confirm this, but the insurance agent said that he did believe that it was his fault after I spoke with him the first time.

I had believed before this accident that the person who hits you from behind during a situation such as this, was at fault during a collision because "the car behind you had stopped to close" or something

but as I had said before, I believe that the driver of the truck will be at fault for the damages on all 3 cars (including his)
