my 99 4spd auto

i was driving normally.
car was shifting from 2 to 3..
then for about a second the AC shuts off.
the TCS and MAINT light go on.
the car stopped accelerating.
then it went back to normal.
when i pull into the garage and put into park, the TCS/Maint light go on.
i shut it off, then start it again.and it seems fine.

So your first transmission failed after 55,000 miles and this one after 65,000 miles?

I forgot to add that I'm curious about 4-speed tranny lifespan reports because I just bought a 1999 TL with a new transmission installed by an Acura dealership. The previous owner's original 4-speed transmission actually made to 175,000 miles before failing.

Wow! That's great. Do you have any theories on why your transmission has lasted so long?

Because the 4 speed isnt as prone to failing as teh 5 speed. Get it to the dealer and see what they say. dont wait

Well I would, but my car is gonna go bye bye. I wish I had the cash to keep it, but we just bought a Durango to pull the race car with and the TL has to go. When I bought the Durango, the dealer wanted to give me $2000 for my TL! HA! I know it has high mileage, but it sure as hell isn't a $2000 car.
