Arrow My 1/4 mile times from today!

Ran my car at the track today 6 times. Wasnt suprised at the times, but i was suprised at the consistency of this car.It is really solid. I only have 2 mods the AEM pulleys and weapon-r intake. (99 w/navi)Heres the results:

Best R/T= .333 Worst R/T= .456

Best 1/4= 15.605 Worst 1/4= 15.72

Best MPH= 89.73 Worst MPH= 89.10

I should of ran with less gas i had just over a half tank. I used sport shift every time, over revved twice in 1st to 2nd gear.
But out of 6 runs 4 were 15.6's and 1 was a 15.7 and 1 redlight.

Does the 2000-2001 TL 5 spd tranny make that much of a diff. from the 4 spd in th 99's??? 2000 TL's w/ 5 spd tranny are supposed to run 15.1 right???

i think 15.1 is kinda fast for it... i did a 15.6 and 15.7 @ 91.x mph with a gtech, granted its not the most accurate, but its supposed to be on the optimistic side... and i have aem ram, so i dunno, high 15's sounds more reasonbale for 00-01tl

? I thought that R/T's below .500 were red lighting.

.6-.7 is usually good/decent, .7-.8 is average anything over 1.000 is sleeping.

.500 is perfect.

Oh and by the way:

Just for comparison, my 1999 with Intake, exhaust, (and springs, traction) did 15.68 and 15.69 at the track two weeks ago.

Non navi, full intrerior (including laundry, spare, two jacks, sub box, amps)

When I went out with just an intake, I couldn't do better than 16.0-16.1

Must have been the weather...

I guess those pullies are pretty damn helpful. As much as an exhaust anyways. Very cool.

You wont see 15.1 in a TL stock. But yeah the pulleys made a little difference not much you can feel, but keep your eyes on the tach, from 4000RPM to 5000RPM you can see a lil more hop!

What was the weather like, temperature and humidity? When I ran my car with a 1/4 tank of gas and no weight reduction, with intake and pulleys I ran a best time of 15.62. That was with 60 degree weather and 60% humidity.

Also what were your 60ft times like and what rpm did you launch at?

Thanks!

Honestly guys, I feel that a TL is more for cruising the streets then on the track. Street racings OK, but I think track is a little too much. With the amount of money you spent buying a TL, it would have been smarter just to buy sport car like a RX7 or Supra Twin turbo to get those low 14 high 13 time at the track.

All my 60 ft times where 2.3 or 2.4. The temp was around 50-60 also, nice and sunny.Dont know what the humidity was. Well i brake torqued it everytime but it only goes up to 2K RPM and launcehd it, I think it launches more aggresively without the brake torque, Ill try that next time. AZN i know i traded in my 2000 GT for this car, but i just did it to see how fast my car is.

Thanks for the info JYOO! 2.3's are good times for an auto. 2.29 has been my fastest 60ft time so far, but normally its in in the low to mid 2.3's. Brake torqueing should help your times unless you spinning your tires excessively off the launch.

Congrats on your times! I wish more TL owners *cough* *cough* would take their cars to the track. Since its impossible for all of us to race each others cars on the street or track, we can at least race our time slips.

So far my best performance mod has been cold weather.

That's badass! what did you do? cheat? All the times I see posted here are mostly 2.4's, most of the Type S timeslips I see are 2.3's. how did you manage a 2.2?

Congrats on your times! I wish more TL owners *cough* *cough* would take their cars to the track.

I agree.

I completely agree with AznTL99-- even though I am new to the board and to owning a TL, I bought that car specifically for comfort and cruisin'. I definitely did not purchase the car to race. I also do not have a 3.2 like many others in here. But with that said, do whatever floats your boat.

new to the board I purchased my tl for more cruisin than racing but dont get me wrong nothing feels better than cranking it up on the open road (road trip from Ny to Atl in 12 hrs)

Hey, try putting ice on the intake tube (hence my SN). All I have is a short ram, you should pull about a 14.7 or 14.8.

14.7-14.8. I think that is way to low of a time, there are people in this group with
cl-s's that don't even run that fast. I was also using the gtech that day and it was off about .2-.3 tenths.
Also if anyone has taken the TL-S to the track, I am curious to see there times.

Well if you think the time is too fast then explain what I ran at the track with just a short ram intake? Just a thought
