Mugen Pronunciation

Maybe it's my Americanized pronunciation, but I always assumed that "MUGEN" was pronounced "me-yu-gen". Well last night I was watching the SPEED channel and they were modding an RSX for the track and informed viewers that it is pronounced "moo-gen". Am I the only one who thought it was pronounced the wrong way?

I saw that same thing. Except it wasnt the RSX, it was the EP3 Civic Si. And it sounded really gay. Is that the same one you caught?

Yeah I caught the Civic Si one too, I think it was the episode after the RSX one.

I saw the same show, I pronounce it mew-gen also but I think you would have to ask someone who speaks japanese to get the correct pronunciation. Or I could say I'm japanese and that the way we say it is right. I think I'll go with that.

It's Mooo Gen

It's Moooo Gen, the G sounds like if you were saying "guy". Mooo-G-en. It's not Mew-jen or Mooo-jen.

Assuming it's a Japanese word/brand (sorry, I'm new to this forum, mods, and Acuras in general) it is pronounced 'moo-ghen.' If I'm translating the kanji correctly, it means "infinite."

once again that's 'moo,' as in the noise a cow makes, and 'ghen' - like the second syllable of 'again.'

Moooo Ghen is close

I am Japanese as well. The Japanese alphabet is a simple but complicated.

In the Japanese language the "G's" are pronounced as they are written in the word guy, get or go. There are actually 3 syllables in the word Mugen. Each syllable is a separate character. There is a one-to-one relationship between spoken and written syllables.

MU, Pronounced Moo
GE, Pronounced with a G like in the word Get
N, is N

I'm not Japanese, but do read/write/speak at an intermediate level. mugen to iiu kaisha no hatsuon ga wakarimasu kedo, yappari pera pera shaberaremasen.

I just tried to relate the pronunciation in terms that the average English speaker would understand.
