MPG Results...Second Tank
MPG Results...Second Tank
The results are in and I'm somewhat pleased. I got 331 miles on a full tank which is roughly 14 gallons. I think there's 3 gallons on reserve but not sure I just filled up after the the gas light came on. Anyways it's an average of 23 MPG which is reasonable for a mix of highway/city driving. This was after just changing out the dirty air filter that was never changed before. My first tank made my heart sink, 200 miles on 12 gallons which averaged roughly 16 MPG, almost worse than my Yukon. I guess I spoke too soon about the factory MPG rating of 19/29, it's not a lie.

The whole thing was pitch black and it was the original Honda filter which I'm sure is the original from when it was brand new. I'm definitely gonna do the cabin filter DIY 01tl4tl. Thanks for the great advice.
You might want to check everything else out too. (Transmission fluid especially)

do seafoam.
best way to calc mpg:
fill tank, reset trip counter. drive drive drive drive. fill up again. take the trip mile# and divide it by the number of gallons replaced on fill up. i understand that pumps might stop at different top off points, but in the big picture that difference is not significant enough to swing the number that greatly.
89 octane is the lower number, 91+ is the higher number.
i get btwn 28-31 all highway, 22-26 mix, 18 - 24 when i start and stop the engine a lot and all local nyc area driving w/heavy foot. i have an 03 tls w/50k

My friend lives there and doesn't have a car because it's way too hard to get to where you want to go but that's probably just his view on it.

driving in the city is like an arcade game. but you need to be like a ninja to keep your car in one piece.oh yeah use tire pressure like 2-3 lbs over the factory spec to give you a boost and firm up the ride.

Chanrith suffers from slipping trans- the mileage will improve after replacement
Then you learn to to drive without constant use of vtec and the economy begins to appear
Some new spark plugs will do wonders after the seafoam too

'00 TL 131K miles, 26 MPG in mixed driving. Nothing A/M except for a K&N air filter.
26 MPG is good. I'm hoping that the new trans will improve the economy. The service manager made the calls and my 110,000 mile TL qualifies for the warranty coverage. After the trans, I have to do the timing belt/water pump then it's on to seafoam and change of spark plugs.
