Moving to a TSX

Well, bought an '09 TSX 6 speed yesterday. One of those unplanned type things, just sorta happened.

Will be selling my much loved and very reliable 02 TL-S. These are GREAT vehicles, and I'll be missing the V6 power and smooth highway ride.

So far the TSX is tight, quick and very agile, and it's nice to have a manual trans again. Different driving experience for sure, but I think it'll be all right.....

Thanks to all the folks on this forum who share their knowledge, I learned a LOT about my TL.

Cheers everyone !
Mike

Curious, did you consider a newer TL with manual trans?

Thats something I wondered too. I find many 6 speed TLs cheaper than manual TSXs here. Very similar mpgs and much faster, more roomy and better interior. Although the tsx is no slouch either, it does everything really well.

Hey all,

I really considered another TL with a manual. They are tough to find here in later models , at least I wasn't seeing any.

The newer Type S, like '07 etc do come up, but are up in kms or a bit high in price. What nice cars though !

The '09 TSX I bought was priced an average of 3-4K under the local market, on a dealer's Wholesale Lot. It needed back brakes including 1 rear caliper. The AC condenser is leaking, not a necessary fix for a while at minus 20 Celsius here tonight, LOL

The used RSX is really high priced around here.....see '02 and 03's all the time 6K to 8K with high kms. Used TL's same vintage and mileage are around $4K ,mostly less. Go figure.

Time'll tell on the TSX. It drives well, and once I figure out some of the newer technology, should be ok !

So far my favourite new things are the telescoping steering wheel and the USB port. LOL

Cheers,
Mike

But the Powah!!!!
Nice upgrade man anyway! Glad you like it.
I'm still waiting for the 4Gs to come down in price.
SH-AWD + Manual is what I'm aiming at since the 6 Speedo Autos are out of reach ($$$$$).

Oh yes Skirmich...I'll miss the extra Powah !

The TSX does have great acceleration and handling so far...I looked under the hood again tonight to refill the wind wash and wondered where all the engine went LOL. Little more space under the hood than the TL.

Agreed on high pricing on the 4th G's. Our company CEO had a '11 TL. I wanted it when they flipped it over at 120,000kms....they sold it to someone without any advertising on the company site. Bummer I missed it.

Cheers,
Mike

its smarter to not buy cars from friends or bosses
When a problem occurs- there are no hard feelings~

on the ac- you will need a receiver /dryer when you do fix it- moisture will be getting in the system every minute its not sealed now- that can cause you big $$$$ problems later

Also the AC is tied in to operate as the Defroster- running the compressor.
Cold air clears the windows faster than waiting on the heater- plus the warm temp/glass cracking issues etc are avoided
I think the real intent was to preserve the seals in compressor by operating it over the winter- which runs its special oil thru everything to keep it happy for summer!

hey 01tl4tl....great info on the AC...The problem was identified some time ago on this car...green dye visible upon inspection of the compressor.

I'm a windows down kinda summer driver, but when my wife and I travel together....no way her hair can be disturbed by natures breezes . So, I'll get it fixed soon.

Oh yeah, the V6 TSX would be tits indeed...as far as I know ( at least in Canada ) it is an auto option only...?

And amazingly, the base TSX comes with cloth seats up here.....I was really taken aback when I found that out....leather interior in the Premium and Tech of course.

^ Yah the TSX V6 didn't have a Manual Option, Bummer But still will have the POWAH!
With the cold weather up north I would take Cloth over Leather TBH.

LOL Skirmich, it will indeed have the Powah ! I admit to being a bit misty over the departed 3.2 !

However, I managed to exceed the speed limit on the highway today with the 2.4 and the TSX held together beautifully.

The heated leather seats fix up the cold cheeks pretty quickly, and now that I have a black interior instead of tan...the leather will likely sizzle a bit more in the hot sunny weather...gotta be careful getting into the seat when wearing shorts now.

Cheers....Mike

^ Yah I think those 2.4L are geared more towards acceleration rather than top end.. Like the Mazda 6 4cyl? that thing sure have a low end!

314,000 kms = 195,111 miles if I've converted correctly.

I've owned it since 64,222 miles.

Nice pick up! You won't be disappointed. The K24 is a reliable motor, plenty of pep, and get better gas mileage. Mated with a 6 speed and it's a blast to drive!

Even so, I have my 4 banger (JRSC RSX w/ a TSX motor), so when I'm ready to give up on the 2G, I'm looking at a 3G or 4G TL 6MT as a DD.
