Mounting Door Sills

I was thinking about cutting the Door sills and imbedding the Chrome Doors sills into the existing door sills themselfs. This way the Chrome sills don't look like there just stuck ontop of the existing sills. Has anyone done this? Just wondering, don't want to re-invent the wheel if someone has already done this. I figured all you would have to do is cut the existing plastic door sills and imbed the chome sills and place some nice trim around it so you don't see the cuts. Anyone have any ideas?

never done the mod before, but why not smooth the plastic door sill with sandpaper and paste directly on? this might give it a even, uniform look?

I could try that too... I kind of wanted to get rid of the tape, and make it look like the chrome sill was imbedded into the door sill.

i think that'd be a cool thing to do! i'm not sure if anyone here has done that before (and sorry that no one's answered your question directly yet)... i think it would look great if you did it though...so it looks like it came that way! good thinking... keep in mind that the aftermarket sills are just thin insert-type things... aren't thick.. so prob wouldn't be a good idea to remove 100% thickness of the original plastic sills where you will be mounting the chrome ones... leave a little floor/plastic for the inserts to sit on until they will be flush with the plastic sills...
