Mounting of ballast for HID fogs

Has anyone experienced any problems after mounting their ballast behind the bumper area right under the reinforcement. Im just hoping I dont get any issues with water damage and so forth. I used velco with a sticky back that I got from Home Depot and it seems good. Is it wiser that I mount the ballast right under the headlight.

What about teh foglight housing. What would happen if I take that metal piece out that surrounds the bulb. Im under the assumption that its there to make the light more direct. if I take it off will it make my 4300k HID look brighter?

Any commentsor suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

I would just zip tie it under the lowbeam ballast (back to back) but then I guess the ignitor would not reach. Maybe zip tie it to that reinforcement you mentioned incase the tape comes loose during the summer heat. I think you also have to modify the socket to accomodate a D2R bulb instead of a 9006.

My concern with HIDs for fogs is that it would melt the housing ... that is what is keeping me from doing it.

HID bulbs only draw 35 watts of power - compared to the 55-60 watts of the stock halogens. They would actually run cooler than the stock halogens.

I just installed my 8500k fogs last night....i removed the fog light and used the double side tape, then mounted it to the side above the foglight.....it's holding strong.

now my headlight and fogs match.....this is one mod everyone should get.

under the factory ballast is a good place to mount the foglight one....but you will have to take off the bumper to do it

You guys are asking for trouble using nothing but tape to keep your ballasts secure.
