motor mount

i am being told that my motor mounts need to be replaced.

the car has 90k.

is this possible?.

why what is going wrong??? shouldnt need to be replaced at that mileage

many have had them go bad at less mileage.i had my first one replaced with my first tranny at around 75k. last time i was in around 159 k they said the fron one is bad. appearently they dont last long??

how do you know if they need to be? just shaking? or what

Easy way to check is pop the hood. Have someone watch the motor, and rev it a little in park. If it jumps a lot, its a bad mount, if it just moves slightly, thats normal. Also you can shift it into drive and if it hops a lot thats another sign.

From what your describing, it sounds like its a motor mount.

also look at the front one for cracking on top, or like the rubber id tearing or pulling apart where the bolts go in

I had 2 of mine replaced at about 75-80K if not later. I'm just a few hundred miles from 100K now, and all is well.

thats what the mechanic showed me.
the motor hops around when letting off the gas...and torques up when stepping on the gas.
we had it on the lift in gear.
the mechanic said it would be even worse when the car was under it's weight.
i told them to fix it.

anyone know how much labor cost to get the motor mounts replaced?

Usually the front mount labor is about 1.5 hours.
If you go too long with the front mount bad the side engine mount will break and leak the fluid out also.
