Mother's Clay bar???
hey guys,
I've been reading around this forum that people use mother's claybar to wash/wax their car, then they spray some product after wiping the claybar off, then apply eagle one carnuba wax??? Does this really work, and will it keep the car that clean?
thanks guys.

okay can you give me a process which I should follow?
after I've completely cleaned the car with my pressure washer (minimum pressure), and dried the car with a chamois, what should I apply first? I want one last final clean before the winter eats away at the car.
Any suggestions?
thanks

this is the process that i did:
1)wash car with damn soap(removes all prior wax)
2)dry car
3)use mothers claybar with the spray bottle that it comes with
4)wash car with dawn soap again
5)dry car
6)wax with mother's carnuba wax
7)admire your reflection in the paint

I just use very soapy water. I think it's easier to run your hand over the surface to feel when it's smooth. You only need to use Dawn if you want to remove the wax that is currently on the surface to use a polymer coating like Zaino. If you are applying wax, I wouldn't worry about using Dawn. The clay really does give you a smooth surface.

here's how I did it boys...took me 6 hours, but sooooo worth it.
1) spray down car and get all bugs, and crap off the car
2) spray with car soap, and wipe down with a cotton cloth (leaves no extra swirl marks)
3) Then I went to a touchless gas station and got a regular car wash on esso points (did this just to use their dryer).
4) came home and removed whatever water the dryer missed with a chamois
5) used Maguire's 3 step wax, and focussed mostly on step 1 and 3
6) Step one cleans the paint and leaves a pretty nice shine, but also removed almost 99% of the swirl marks. The paint looks absolutely sparkling in the sun
7) used the polish to hold in that amazing shine
8) Spent about 2 hours waxing the car, to make sure all the product went into the paint, too also protect against an our horrific upcoming winter
9) Looked at the car and almost cried...it looked so gorgeous
10) put scratch X wherever it desperately needed it, found that the side skirt package was all scuffed up from going in and out of the car, scraping my shoes on it.
11) cleaned the interior dash with some dash cleaner, don't worry not armor all
12) cleaned and detailed the whole interior
13) put Mother's leather cleaner and conditioner on the leather (protect it before winter strikes)
14) Put Eagle One Tire cleaner on the tires to shine them up
15) Eagle One Aluminum Rim cleaner
16) Gonna vaccuum tomorrow to make the car look new again.
17) Showed my dad the way a TL-S should always look!!! Trying to get him to put Tints and Springs on the car!!! I'll let you guys know what happens.

Uhm, I may be way off on this but wouldn't using a product to remove swirls marks imply that the product is also removing any wax on the car? I always try to wash, scratch remove, and then wax.

yah that's what I did. I used the scratch remove or step 1 of the maguire's process, which removes all the old wax, then I sealed all of the product with the step 3, the wax.
The last layer that went on the body of the car was the wax...oops, I just realized that I put the scratch X too far down in the list. Basically I used Scratch X right after cleaning the car, then I put the wax on.
sorry about that.

well this is what i do, wash the car with Maguire's gold soap then rinse the car and clay it while its still wet and wash again then dry and buff the car with Maguire's gold wax. You don't really need to dry it then clay then wash takes too long. Works the same when you just wash and clay, one less step mayb i'm just lazy hahaha.

I thought polishing first then waxing to seal in the gloss?
Dawn detergent (blue $1.99 Can. Tire) removes all the previous wax buildup, then clay bar to remove all the deposited grime and crap from the clearcoat. I believe this is necessary before any waxing/ polishing.
I use Liquid Glass ($17 U.S. @ Pep Boys) and I am about to apply my last coat before the cold weather creeps in. No polishing, no waxing. Been happy with the results so far.

vicman17, yes you do want to polish first then wax to "seal" it in.
I wash between polishing and Zaino because the Z likes the paint to be clean. It helps bond to the paint. If you polish and leave the polish on the car, Zaino will not bond as well and fail sooner.
