Most wanted Feature for the Next TL redesign??

What would you say are your most wanted features available for the next TL?? 2004 should be about when the new one comes out..
And since no info has been released yet..

For me, I would have to choose..

1. Better Stereo system..
2. 3.5L version of the TL-S for 300HP!!
3. Bi-Xenon Auto-Leveling Headlights
4. Automatic Rear Sunshade
5. More color choices
6. REAL Leather
7. tilt/teloscoping steering wheel tied to memory seats!
8. Ion Yellow Fog option
9. Thicker windows to reduce road noise

That's all I have for now.. but I wanted to see what you thought..

I would like to have a "sports package" tied in with the TL.
I mean, Mercedes Benz got AMG, why not Acura? OK, it won't be called AMG but it could be Comptech. That would be cool!

I vote #1 (Better Stereo system) and #2 (3.5L version of the TL-S for 300HP)

Both are equally important.

My number one wish for the TL: wider wheels and grippier tires.

I would like to have windowsill mounted tweeters added to the Bose system. The sound comes out to low in the car. I think it would enhance the "stage" prescence of the system. Also, use Xenon driving lights to match the headlights. It looks a little funky having the two different light colors emitting from the front of the car. They could also put a one-touch operation to the sunroof. Oh, and of course, make the TL-S engine the BASE model engine, not the upgrade. They will have to do this to keep up with what Infiniti and other manufacturers are doing in this class of car.

Part of the problem is keeping it affordable.

However I'd love to see Rear Wheel Drive, Auto Up and Down windows and sunroof, and something like "Metallic Ice Blue" for a color choice.

Unrealistically?

Supercharger.

1) 4-wheel drive and horsepower, lots of horsepowers.
2) reduce the wheel offsets, so that wheels with hugh lips can be fitted.
3) reduce the turning radius.

I wouldn't want 300 horses without rear wheel drive.

I would prefer a sports sedan with a better front/rear weight ratio, rear wheel drive, and more power.

but come on....we're talking about Honda here...it took them 13 years to mull over a rear wheel drive v8 powered RL (Legend). i hardly expect anything revolutionary for the TL...

Not exactly a feature, but eliminating all rattling will go a long way towards satisfying a lot of customers looking for a quality feel in a vehicle.

Yeah and all these features, I could image, will probably make the TL a 40k-50k dollar mark.

True, and I bet you there will be people who will buy it too. For example, you have people buying the regular MB 320E, and the souped up AMG E55. And those cars are more expensive than our TLs. If Acura wants to compete at the same level with the big boys (MB, BMW, Lexus), it will have improve more. I would be more than willing to pay more $ for a better product. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Not always true, but applicable in this case. Just my 2 cents.

3.2 TL Type R.

Weight reduction, less frills more thrills.

Larger rotors
3.2L DOHC VTEC at 320 to 350 HP
Thicker sway bars
Ability to put wider wheels on (17 375 50/s would be nice)
6 speed manual

etc...

Honda could do this without any really huge costs.

Would it sell well... no who would really want it... Just buy an S2000.

franky, I don't care too much about the next gen.

If Acura don't work on their customer service, and quality... I don't care how cheap the car is or how good of a value it seems... I am not going to even consider it...

In addition to the many items already listed, I would also like a direction indicator (digital compass).

A hand-pull inside the trunk so you can close the trunk (like BMW and Audi) without touching the outside paint!

hum...

well, to get all those things that you guys want from the TL...

I had say that the cost is gonna be a lot higher... And I don't think it's a good thing is the car is still build in the states...

I think the TL got quality issues already, and if they add all those nice things to it while the quality is still like $hit... Then it would be a lot like Cadi/Linc. That's only gonna be worst for the company... JMHO...

I hope not! I'd like more weights added to provide more safety and solid-ness along with the power. Weight reduction? Just go with a CRX or a Civic... with a T.L engine... if it will fit that is.

Personally I don't think there are any major problems with my 2000 TL... I thought it is waaaay better than before, more solid and heavier rather than the old "light-weight" feelings.

Well, it fits with a lot of chasis/frame mods....

Too bad that the car handles worst then the mustang...

It's really fast, but can really only be used for drag racing, the guy sold it and the new owner bascially crushed it on a road course...

Thats what the black latch part is for :p

I'd like to see:

*Better initial quality (i.e. more attn to reducing squeaks/rattles)
*Better paint quality
*1-Touch up/down windows & sunroof
*Better stereo - 7 or 9 speaker - something by JBL, Alpine, or Harman Khardon (Sp?)
*Type-S style seats on all models
*Power Lumbar (not a knob that squeaks/rattles against the console when down :p)
*Ability to have "track time" of CD's on the radio display
*Backlit Cruise/Audio Controls
*REAL WOOD (or just don't put any in and let us add REAL aftermarket wood)
*Low/High beam Xenons
*Factory Fog/Driving lights either real xenon or yellow ion.
Unlikely:
*Changeable dash/display lighting a la AIWA stereos (the small tabletop units -- have these backlit LCD's that you can change the colors of from Light Green, Teal, Aqua, Indiglo Blue, Darker Blue, Purple, Orange/pinkish color, Red -- very cool )
thats all for now

With the heavy V6 in the front, the weight distribution may be something like 80/20. The rear sway bar must be like the size of a tree trunk in order to cure the massive understeer. No wonder it handles worse than the mustang.

I agree with those, specially the electronic tilt/teloscoping steering.

How many cars do you know with Bi-xenon headlights ?????

I only know one, MB CL600 which is $120k. I think only very expensive cars have this option standard. I don't think the TL would ever get this option.

You know acura don't like to have options.

How much did it cost? I'm sure over $600.

Is this an absurd wish list or are ya'll serious. The reason that the TL costs 27k is the reason ALL these features are missing.

C'mon ya'll be real. Be happy.

hehe. I am happy with my car EXCEPT for the transmission. It is the worst out of any car I have driven. Its just not holding up well. Its shifts so hard and makes weird noises and booms but it still hasn't gone yet. It will probably go when my warranty is up.

I agree but we are talking about Acura making a type R model much like there is the type R NSX, type R Integra, type R Civics (in Japan).

We are currently a Type S which Honda turns is attributable to "sport".. like the S2000 which is technically called a 2000 S type... or the RSX Type S, Civic Si.

Type R technically stands for "Racing"... Hondas top of this line model considered race able.

It would be like BMW's M5.

If Acura were to come out with a race model it would be called a "Type R".. This is exactly what they would do:

Stiffer suspension all around
6 speed Manual
Weight reduction
Existing 3.2 liter engine at 280-320 HP
Sporty interior
Wider and ZR rated tires with wider 17" wheels
lower
Probably made in Japan
Body rigidity upgrade (X frame?)
Track ready

I would expect a quarter aimed at 14.0 with 0-60 in the 5.5 range.

Would Acura do this, would there be demand? Actually… They might… The 3.2 is now being compared to the 330’s and IS300 and Honda loves to come out with a product that shocks these companies… AKA…. The S2000

But then again… this could be better done with an Accord Type R using the existing 260hp engine.
