Cool Morning commute...

This morning was such a nice day I decided to roll my TL out of the garage for the first time really all winter. As I raced down the PA turnpike on my way to work a couple of cars flagged me down to race. I dusted a Maxima SE and Ford Taurus Sho with ease during my morning commute. Yet, just as I finished off the Maxima and was feeling pretty good about my car a BMW M3 appeared. You know that feeling you get when something takes your breath away, well that was me for a second or two. He pulls along side of me, and I knew he was going to take me with ease, yet I said to myself what %#$, plus this would be a great measuring stick for my car. We drop down to 45mph with nothing but open road ahead of us, the traffic behind us slowed as if they were some eager race fans, and we punched it. The race over before it began. I held my own and pulled on him until I hit 4th gear, then check please, got to go! He the pulled out to a car length lead and we topped out at 120. We then slowed down and gave each other a nod of respect. BMW M3 are worth every penny, but I love my TL it held its own.

I raced a 97 white BMW M3 coupe. I thought he should of had me by two car lengths at least. Yet, its the driver that makes a car perform its best.

The old style M3's are really not all that fast... Now the new style 2002 M3's have a 333 HP V6 and go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds...they are sooooo pimp. The new M5's have a 400HP V8 and also go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

On top of that the new redesign makes them look sweet.

From what I read in one of the car magazines, the E46 (new bodystyle) M3 with the 333 HP and all, had trouble pulling away from a E46 330i (with 225hp??)...basically, it is all in the gearing (the way the power reaches the ground)... but of course the M3 should handle much better than the 330i.

I think 0-60 is 4.8 seconds off the line speaks for itself.

it should be the E36 M3 because even the E46 330i is faster than that model...

OHHHH, the old style M3's. Yeah, you're right. I have raced one before too. It was a 4 door M3. Really not that fast...
