My 4 speed is starting to act up on me now too..The first to second upshift, whether in or out of SS mode takes sooooooooo long, and anytime I give a little gas and downshift from 4th or 3rd to second, it feels like someone's rear ending me, and the whole car shudders(also in or out of SS mode). The torque converter isn't changing the gears when it should, sometimes when I'm slowing down I feel the transmission "buck" and sorta push the car forward, as if it's engaging into a higher gear. Last but not least, sometimes if I slow down, nearly to a complete stop, the computer isn't automatically downshifting for me, so I end up trying to accelerate from 5 mph in 4th gear.

Sorry to hear about that Ed. Now you are the 2nd 99 TL owner (Mario is the other) in the east coast with the tranny problem. You guys are making me nervous. BTW, how many miles do you have on it now? Good luck and keep us inform.

Ed, have you read my posts a while back about how my tranny tries to accelerate from 5mph in third gear without downshifting? ITS SOOOOOOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!! @#$%# To get it to downshift in traffic, I have to give it more gas and when I do, it just downshifts and there is too much power so I have to brake hard. I hate how my car shifts so badly. It takes the enjoyment away from the car. Also, that first to second upshift is long. It jerks the car hard. Also, when you come to a stop and the car downshifts from third to first, do you feel a huge jerk?

Also, it says that the defective tranny's are in 2000+ TL's with the five speed. My four speed suks and I wish it went under warranty. I have 54k miles on my car and I hope to god, if it went, they would see how many times I complained and fix it for me.

LOL..whats up dude... hows work? Well.. my post number got cut in half.. and I was denied post whore extraordinare status... plus I ended up getting a Passat instead of an acura (insurance was insane). I read the forum every now and then... but mostly without even being logged in. BTW, anyone seen that kid from Canada (slk and some numbers)?

i have heard of other owners that have over 60 or 70k and they called customer relations and acura did the transmission under warranty. I also think they were 99 tl's so it has the 4 speeds as well

*ahem* I have a 99TL and just got my 3rd tranny put in............that's right people 3rd fockin' tranny!!!!! Oh and I have 77K miles. I've gotten a new tranny every summer since i've bought the car.

There are way too many tranny failures for my liking. Why hasn't everyone gotten together for a class action lawsuit. No one is being tough on Acura. It's like you guys are accepting what they tell you. They're pumping out lemons by the thousands, and I think someone needs to put a hurting, or the threat of a hurting, on Acura for all these lemons.
