Mom's Close call

airbags and seatbelt worked great just some bruised ribs from the seatbelt and her knee from hitting the dash. I think her pride is hurt more than anything, being her first accident 41 years of driving.

Yeah the passenger side (inside the cabin) doesn't look bad in terms of damage either, though you can't see the floor. Only thing I'm curious on is that it looks like the side airbag didn't deploy? Shouldn't it have since it seems there is some side impact?
Safety is always number one however, glad she walked away from it.

Thanks for the thoughts and kind words everyone....
update she went to the hospital to check out the pain she was having from the seatbelt last night but x-rays showed nothing broken...... today she is in alot of pain.... but she was lucky to walk away with no breaks, or cuts or anything....
the floor board on the passenger side is pushed up quite badly almost touching the dash. and you are correct only dash airbags deployed no side airbag deployment.... maybe not equipped on a 99'?

I'm glad your mother was alright. Thankfully she was in a very safe car.
I hope she recovers quickly. 41 years of driving without an accident is impressive, tell her to let herself off the hook. They're called accidents for a reason.
What might cheer her up is shopping for a new car. Prices are really low right now!

I'm glad your mom is ok. The car held up very well. The 99 TL didn't have side airbags so that's why it didn't deploy. When she is ready to drive again maybe a 02-03 TL-S or 07-08 TL-S would be a good replacement.

Just goes to show how safe are cars our. That TL is torn right up and your mom walked away with only some bruises. That's incredible hope she has a quick recovery.

She was clearly admiring her beauty as shown in picture 4. Everyone does that while driving, duh.
Good for your mom, bad for the TL. But when she gets her 08 TLS, tell her please don't drive while looking at herself. I mean, I know its tempting, but those 08 TLS are nice. She'd rather keep it in the driveway and out of the ditch/massive pot hole and off the pole.
