Meguiar's

Ok, I got the 3 step system. How long do you guys spend doing the process, not counting the car wash? I remember when I had my 87 Supra I seem to have spent half a day. Also, will the Shine and Lustre vinyl and rubber protectant be harmful to leather ?

If you're doing it by hand, I would say about three hours.

I used to be a Meguiar's fan, used it for probably 8 or 9 years on all my cars. Had heard all the talk about Zaino and thought I would give it a try on my new black TL-S. After trying it about a week ago, I am sold on the Zaino. Gives a glossier shine and easier to take off than regular wax and no wax dust. I will continue to use my Meguiar's supply on my wife's Odyssey and will use the Meguiar's tire dressing and leather conditioner on both. If you haven't tried the Zaino it's worth giving it a try. It converted me.

It took me almost 3 hours for doing the following:
- wash / dry / wax the car
- clean the wheel / tailpipes
- rainX the classes
- clean the interior
- clean and condition leather

It's really time-consuming, but hey I love doing it on such a nice car!

It took me about 4-5 hours total (without the drying time) over 2 days to do the following:

1) wash and dry with Dawn
2) clay bar the whole car
3) wash and dry
4) apply Zaino Z1
5) apply Zaino Z5
6) allow to dry, then buff off Z5/Z1
7) apply Zaino Z2
8) allow to dry, then buff off Z2

Thanks to all the hardcore members of this forum, it was the longest I ever spent detailing a car that was only a month old. I felt it was worth it though.

I just went through the Zaino experience myself, but I didn't use the clay. I was going to add another coat of Z5 today, but then I saw your post. Are you happy you went straight to Z2? Oh one more thing, did you use the Z6 before adding the Z2?

I had used Meguiar's Gold Class for a while. Nice shine, but it didn't last long. Then switched to Zymol. Slight glossier shine and slick. Because so many members on different forums swear by Zaino, I gave it a try. I am now on my third coat of Z2. This stuff is great! Very deep wet shine and super slick! It also doesn't make the trim white like the other polish/waxes. I'm not sure if there is much difference on lighter colors, but it is amazing on dark colors.

Question

What product will work best on a WDP? For the darker colors (and even silver), what you folks are discussing makes sense. I would imagine white is a difficult color to enhance, no matter what product is applied; ie, so should I just use the one requiring the least effort? Feedback comments?

Using polishes that work well on dark colors should also work with white. The color may not look as deep, but it will enhance the clearcoat shine and give it a nice slick feel. Definitely worth it

Right on the money. It took me 3-3.5 hours actually, including the "speed-dry" process after washing.
