Megan SS headers installed

Mechanic said perfect fit, it only took him an hour to install. No resonance issues. I have not been able to open it up becuase it's raining outside. So far so good!

get back with us on the resonance issues...I didnt think I had any issues till lately when I drive with the radio off and accelerate at a moderate level (4 out of 10), there is a noise when the RPM passes like 2500 for a brief second...maybe I need to get them tightend down some? oh well I really cant hear it unless I am waiting for it.

but good to hear you headers fit well!

yes please post dyno when you get it done. Aslo if anyone else has a dyno for the TLS with alphawerks headers. I would like to see that. Or any headers for that matter.

waiting on the GB megan headers too

I also got in on the Megan Racing Headers Group Buy as well. Please post any problems you encountered, or anything that my installer should be aware of in order to get this done right the first time.

also, post your dyno results when you get them.

Thanks

From what I heard over at V6performance.net, there are no fitment issues, but there is resonance.

On a different note, I don't see why some people are so obsessed with comparing HP gains b/w different brands..

One argument I don't buy is "X brand headers have greater gains than Z brand headers"... if there are any differences, it should be really marginal given these headers all have the same design.

But they're not the same design. The Comptech and OBX headers have the rear bank exhaust coming in at a steep rearward angle where the exhaust from the rear bank is directed to immediately flow backwards like this:

__\ \___
_______

It's actually a much steeper angle than that.

The Megans have the rear bank coming in at a 90 degree angle which might cause more back pressure or on the front bank. Like this:

__| |___
_______

We need to see dynos to really know if this is an issue or not.

Thanks
California Air Resources Board... they set a standard (emissions) that cars in Cali have to meet in order to be on the streets... well legally at least.

resonance

what exactly do folks mean by resonance? i also got in on the megan headers Group Buy and am hoping that these headers will not cause noise issues or vibration for that matter.

i was told that comptech does not have these problems. my question, is there anything that can be done to reduce, or even better, eliminate the resonance should it occur.

thanks

I was on vacation for a week as soon as i put them on so i've onnly driven on them for about a week. So far still good, no resonance, no leaks. My machanic told me to bring the car back soon to torque the bolts down again. I have noticed an increase in power becuase it seems there is more torque steer when i punch it in second to the redline. I cant dyno it anytime soon becuase of the holiday season and i'm trying to get some coilovers. Maybe after the new year Good luck to all who have them coming in from that groupbuy. You will enjoy them. My car is waaaay dirty so no pics any time soon.

Sweet, no resonance. That was my biggest concern... I guess that resonance only applies to Accords and not TLs?

Resonance = noise

Buzzing, whistling, humming... usu. around low RPMs (2-3k)

nah they ended last monday. I was so glad that I jumped on it. THe megan brand is getting alot of publicity around the broads lately. THey are making a BIG surge. All brands start out slow and they move their way up. If there is stock for Megan I would buy it since it seems like a good legit company. Like the Alphawerks, Which I missed, Their headers for our cars went from $280- $450 now $600 shipped and that is groupbuy price. I learn that if people are in a groupbuy and you need the part Jump on it if you have the money. U know COmptech just didnt became comptech over night. so Megan is making a BIG BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
