mdx crank in types motor
mdx crank in types motor
when my wife was getting her tl i spoke to a fellow at rick case acura in ft. lauderdale who showed a tl they built for a customer that had a mdx crank in it and new rods. the car was a tl type x. he said you could order it from them with waranty. but if you added the parts to a used ride it wouldn't be warrantied. the ride was supposed to make over 360 horse. of course the price of admission was pretty steep. just wondering if anyone ever heard about this
Word on the street was that Rick Case was no longer doing this upgrade. Are you saying it's still available?

my wife got her tl one year ago last thanksgiving. when i spoke to doug and a sales person there about the mod. i know he has since moved over to rick case honda. unless my memory is going i was told the power was up in the mid 300's and the price for parts and labor was steep. i'll try calling rick case tomorrow and see if its a thing of the past or not.
This upgrade involves the MDX -> TL part swap to create a 3.5L TL. There were 3 different level of upgrades, with the first simply being the 3.5L upgrade, and I believe the upper levels involved a port and polish, a couple of other minor tweaks .. with the Level 3 upgrade at ~350 horses(I think).
As far as I know, these upgrades are not available anymore since Doug isn't working for Rick Case Acura anymore (as was already stated)...
If you're interested in the upgrade, acura-cl.com has a lot of information on the 3.5L upgrade ... in fact Type R a member here and there has the upgrade and was able to pull some pretty impressive 1/4 mile times.
I believe Tim sells the parts you need for the 3.5L upgrade too, around $2500 for the parts, but you need someone to install them.
Here is a link to the details of the Level 1 Upgrade:
