I test drove one... and wasn't impressed. They aren't in nearly the same league as a TL.

From: Miami - just one day, I would like to drive without getting cut off!
I was surprised to see that the 6 has more torque than the new rx-8.

It doesn't feel like it's got much torque when you drive it. (I did drive the 6 cylinder). Of all the cars I test drove when picking my new car, it felt the slowest.

the 6 was mad slow... it handled great but really slow. i had the auto though.

but the TSX review should put that 6 in its place... and funny thing is that the only category it was gonna lose in was speed... 200HP 4cylinder and it was only.2seconds behind the 220HP mazda6 V6.

but the mazda6 without the bodykit looks fugly. too much like the corollaS

I think almost everything has more torque than the RX-8.

Thumbs up

The RX-7 is like the S-2000, you have to rev the heck out of it to get the power! Which is very satisfying (for those who have not driven either vehicles)

Don't forget that's with a 6000 rpm clutch drop. It's street start times or more inline with a TL-S.

If what you raced was a Mazda 6 i, then that's like beating an Accord 4 cylinder.

If it was a 6 s, then nice job, and he messed up!

Agreed becasue I know the manual that was tested dipped into the mid 6's to 60. That is the 6 cylinder one, it is impossible to tell if one is a 6 or 4 cylinder they dont have any special badging on them.

You CAN tell the difference on the Mazda 6. The newer ones now have a "V6" Badge on the door, under the bodyside molding in line with the mirror. (Unless of course, someone debadged it, which I still don't understand) Also, the V6 sounds really good, where the 4 is lame.
I test drove 2 different ones, both V6s, both Autos. They are not as fast as my TL-S, but they do handle better. They are nice cars for the money, but the dealers are not very flexible with the pricing right now. Maybe once the RX-8 hits the streets, they will come down a little. I was told that the 5 speed was substantually faster.
