In a matter of 20 minutes..........

Some FOCKERS stole the headlights off of the TL classic style, pushed in the edges of the fender edge, pushed down the bumper, ripped the lights off. What does it typically cost for replacement lights? I need to see now if it pays to claim it with insurance, or fix it myself. :bigun2:

pisses me off. I'm really sorry to hear about this! I hate it for you, and I hope those bastards rot in prison for this. Hope your insurance crud works out OK, and you get a new pair of lights in and repairs done ASAP!

Pisses me off to hear this. :banghead: Something has got to be done. They got me too. It looked like a smash and grab job. Long story short new hood and lights plus bumper and fender repair. Insurance est. $3500

Its ridiculous at this rate there will be more tl's hit than not for lights.

The lights need a feature that renders them useless if not uninstalled in a certain manner. That is the only thing that can stop this unless the fad just dies on its own.

Sh*t 20 minutes. Last I heard is that they would spot a TL and wait 24 hours (if the car stays in one spot) and hit it the next night. Where in Brooklyn was this? I've got some time on my hands, if anyone is up for a sting I'm good to go to teach these bastards a lesson, maybe if word starts to go out that TL owners are fighting back, maybe the thieves will stop.

Man that sucks. $3,500 worth of damage? If they don't use them , they'll probably sell them for a couple of hundred bucks. It amazes me sometimes how there's such a lack of respect these days.

Hope your insurance takes good care of you and the repairs are as painless as possible.

It happened right in front of our house, parked on the street. I got home from work around 8. My brother went downstairs about 20 minutes later, looks out the window to see black holes!

To discourage people from stealing TL HID and installing on other cars. Fck up their car whenever you see a non-TL having TL lights. When there's no market, there's no point of stealing.

I doubt they steal the lights for the headlight itself. The thief broke the light off the bracket. In most cases they are taking it only for the HID. Leave it up to Genuis Acura to mount all the HID hardware ON the light and not around the engine room. BTW, this is the first time it happened, after almost 4 years of ownership.

Maybe there's a way to wire an alarm system to the headlights. As soon as they try to steel your headlights, that horn is blairing in their face. I don't think anyone would put up with 20 minutes of a loud horn in their face. Or even wire it so it turns on the headlights and high beams. They risk electrocuting themselves or at least get blinded while they do it.

LOL - I love that sticker "Warning, 25,000 Volts!!!" I think thats hilarious. I actually thought about wiring one of those shock detecting alarm systems around my lights and engine bay area... either that or park the TL in a spot where it is in jeopardy of getting its lights theived, and hide with a shotgun!!! pricks......

I cant stress to you all enough add a sensor to the headlights so that if anyone should bother them the alarm goes off. Its very easy to do and most thieves arent expecting and alarm to sound. Catch em off guard and you might save yourself some aggravation.

The idea of a trigger device of some kind sounds nice, but then again, they still have to pry apart your bumper causing damage that you'll have to pay for.

Proximity sensors are usually more annoying than anything else, but I think here they could be put to some good use. I am not too sure how they work exactly, but in theory it sounds like they would.

Any way of installing a sensor alarm that will go off on your key chain instead of the car? I know you'd need a pretty strong signal for that but can it be done?
