Matrix tails vs. OEM

Are there any differences (visual or otherwise) between Matrix Racing taillights and the '02 Acura Tails? It's for my '99. Even the most subtle.. I need to know! Thanks

They're not altezzas! They look almost exactly like stock.. but I can't tell because I'm just looking at pics on the web. Look here:

http://www.matrixracing.com/cgi-bin/...id=AITLRCTLJDM

I want to now how they differ from Acura OEM... some people said they had Matrix... please post!

Those probably will not have "HONDA" on the lens.

Re: Taillights

I have installed the Matrix tails on my brothers 00. I definately reccomend getting them. They fit perfectly, and you do not have to change the harness like you would have to on the 02 and up lights. The matrix lights even come with the amber bulb for the turn signal. I highly reccomend them. The only difference is they say DEPO in the bottom where it would normally say HONDA. DEPO is the company that makes them.

Question

Again, why buy this light housing if the only difference is the name that appears on it. If its just a replacement for the OEM light housing fine. But if this is suppose to be better, than what makes it better? Hope i did'nt confuse anyone...lol

I want to replace my yellow tail with the clear... and the Matrix is a lot cheaper than the Honda/Acura ... plus I don't need the additional wiring harnesses..........

These are simply just taiwan made ones.

QUIETSTORMMVN_IN, These are the half clear/half red tails. Just like the 02-03 TL's.

TL_99,
Go to ebaymotors.com->Parts&Accessories->Car&Truck->Lighting&Lamps. Do a search on 'Acura TL' and scroll through the listings. There are 2002 tails on eBay from Matrix and from ProCarParts. I got mine from Matrix and they're fine so far. Only pay the minimum bid price($180)...there's always a lot of these on eBay so you'll probably win the auction at minimum bid.

I believe the fit (meaning there will be a small gap) is not as perfect as a stock/oem tail.

One important thing often overlooked with inexpensive aftermarket light housings is the strenth of the plastic itself. They basically use a inexpensive low grade plastic that is far more brittle and prone to cracking....compared to OEM tails.

But, if it works and it holds up alright....I don't suppose it's a bad idea if your funds are limited.
