mallfunction indicator lamp

mallfunction indicator lamp went off tonight. I read about the gas cap. Any other ideas, or stories? I have an extended warranty.
Thx

you mean the CEL check engine light came on?
Did you just get gas? make sure the cap is on 3 clicks minimum
5 clicks is good,,, 15 is not required~

GO TO AUTOZONE!

they can check standard OBDII codes for free, so instead of headscratching, just go and get the codes run.

I like to start with the basics and troubleshoot based on- last thing done to the car was...
gas- check cap! as an example.

OBDI- thats the scanner that plugs into the car and it usually will give you the computer error codes the car is throwing a light for
Codes are not Diagnosis- they are CLUES to the real problem,
Most major parts stores have the scanner and will read the codes for free- then you come back here with the codes and we figure out the real problem- saving you hours and hundreds of dollars

If they dont offer that service in Canada- most Honda specialty shops or an import car repair shop will have the same tool, and for a small charge will get the codes-
and may be educated enough on your type car- to know what those codes really mean!

Since you have an extended warranty- return to the dealer and say- I have a warning light- please fix that - and which one of these new cars is my loaner?
