Making the Gear Display Active in Auto Mode

As we all know, the gear indicator is activated when in Sequential SportShift. I was wondering if you guys think it's possible to make the gauge cluster display the gear even in automatic mode.

After driving so long in SS mode, I pretty much know what gear the car is in even without the indicator. Still, I think it would be a neat feature.

Do you guys think it could be done easily? I'm thinking a simple wire across 2 points on the cluster board would do it, but I don't know which points.

It's all controlled by the PCM. There is no way of doing it, unless someone starts rewriting the firmware program inside the PCM.

^ probly when he gets out of college.

I think a better mod would be figuring out how to make it so we have full control over the manual shift so we can shift in and out of first without gate shifting.
