Does anyone know how much ethanol our cars can handle? i think some of the new chryslers can run on up to 85% ethanol (flex fuel) someone correct me if im wrong but i drive a lot fo rwork and i dont plan on getting rid of my TL until oct. because u have already figured that even with just 1/2 a tank its 6.45 for 8.6 gallons then at 3.03 for premium it will only be 26.06 for the other 8.6...thats from completly empty as opposed to 52.12

Our cars dont like ethanol. I get alot worse mileage while running 10% mix over fuel that doenst have it in there. Ethanol fuel suck. cars and trucks that runn it get less mileage, so in the long run its not any cheaper.

However, these DIY kits talk about making a gallon for very cheap, which would save a bunch. Not saying that I would use it in my TL, but something to consider if prices start hitting 4-5$.

Does anyone now what really to expect in Mileage stats on 06 TL AT? Estimate says 20/29. I drive 75% highway and pick up my new TL tomorrow.
Also, does this car REALLY require Premium?

They said that if a car is rated at 17mpg it will get 13-14mpg on ethanol, according to people from the industry that were on fox news. They said one advantage of using ethanol is you get more HP out of it then you do with gas. Ethanol would be cheaper, but the oil industry is not making it easy for them so transporting it to gas stations is what's making it cost more.

Ethanol is bad for fuel systems. They are more corrosive then gas. things like rubber and plastic parts in the fuel systems might deteriorate faster.
I have friends who work in fuel tank and fuel systems industry, no rubber or plastic parts are 100% ethanol safe. They been using different type of rubber and plastic to increase the MTBF (Mean time before failure) of the parts hopefually will outlast the life time of the car, when 10% ethanol is use. If you switch to high % of ethanol the MTBF of the parts will decrease.

Our cars are 10% approved ethernal gas. Ethernal gas runs cleaner in the fuel system, however its performance is decreased, some of the parts may get corroded in a long run since ethernal gas contains oxygen and oxygen contains water.
