Thumbs up Gas mileage

After I had my speeding ticket a decided slow down just a bit
But the good side of this is that my gas mileage has improved.
I`m driving every day 60 miles to work (20 mil highway and 40 city/local), for you guys from Mass I395 and RT 20 to Westborough. I`m trying not to exceed 2000RPMs and 70mph, Well it is working. I`m getting now 27mpg - before 24-25.

Did a 1400 mile trip and got 30 mpg. That was 72 - 80 mph with A/C on.

i'm on a 2001 TL and getting ~20 mpg, driving conservatively. could be where you're driving, like streets vs. highway. or something could be wrong with both our cars

i drive a 2:1 mix of highway:city. i have a brand new air filter. just ran a tank of the techron fuel additive. the only thing i haven't done yet is the spark plugs. i don't know what else i could do!

all i can say is that lately i've been looking at the gas prices, then eyeing civics. :shakehead

if you figure somethin' out...let me know! oh yeah, i use HESS or MOBIL gas. but i heard this doesn't matter anyway.

In my 03 TL-S, on all highway (200 miles round trip, 3 days per week for work), I get about 30. Used to get 32 + until I put PZeroNero tires on and it has dropped about 2 MPG....I have noticed that I do get better milage with 93 that 89 octane but he cost is not worth it...yet

Clean your intake manifold with carb cleaner and a wire brush. Also check your tire pressure. Yes, spark plugs help.

I have a 99TL and I cannot get above 22mpg. I took a 300 mile ride today, all highway, on premium gas, 22mpg. Is that the best I can expect?

I have a 99, too, and my average is also about 22. Best I ever got was 23.5 or so. The car has new plugs, new tires, new oil, and I rarely hit 3K rpm... I just don't believe anybody getting more than 24 or 25 MPG with this car, but I still think it's GREAT mileage for such an engine and a 4-speed tranny. I'm not complaining at all. My last car was a Cadillac STS that averaged 15MPG on a good day.

I got 580miles to a tank of gas before. Gas is kinda expensive now, but I think summer gas would help out the mileage

i got 32 driving out to ohio 2 years ago doing 80-85 nearly the entire way. not that 27 isn't good! but i'm sure you can do better

driving to work though i can't get over 25. probably because it's a fair amount of stop & go and hills.

Just made a trip up to NYC this past weekend and got 30.2 mpg on the way back. Wasn't necessarily driving conservatively but I wasn't hammering down either. I've noticed an increase in mpg since I've installed my UR pulleys as well.

I get between 23-27MPG with combined City/Highway in my 99TL. Last trip at about 75 MPH, I got over 30. They do get great mileage and my averages are accurate. Perhaps your engine isn't running as well as it could!

I agree that Bush has not been directly responsible for the rise in gas prices but also has not done anything to resolve the issue. I believe he has the ability to put a cap on prices (I may be wrong). Some feel that his families ties with the Bin Ladin (or Laden) family is cause for concern. Not my personal opinion but I have heard some people voice their opinions about this.

I get your point here considering the content of the post, but I don't think a typo is a reason too imply that he's stupid. Just my

Combine that with his profanity and my comment stands. BTW, price controls didn't work in the 70s and they wont work now. All they did was result in shortages. It's common sense. What would you do if you were told you had to sell a product below what it cost you to produce? Simple, you'd quit selling it. People who believe the president, any president, has the power to control prices don't understand how markets work and politicians from all sides are exploiting this ignorance to buy votes.

At $75 per barrel and how many gallons of fuel (not just gasoline) that can be refined from a barrel, the MINIMUM price for gasoline is $2.23/gallon. This assumes oil companies refine it for free and distribute it for free and there are no federal or state taxes added. People get all bent out of shape at oil companies and ignore the money state and federal governemnts make on a gallon of gasoline. New York gets 60 to 80 cents per gallon, which dwarfs what the oil companies make, yet you don't hear anyone asking the government to take less.

snowman81 - not that i'm rooting for bush or that i'm against him, but as of yesterday at 2:30am he *is* attempting to do something about it. starting with his supply halts to the SPR. now i don't necessarily think his plans will work the way he hopes they will, but i'll give him credit for trying.

man i miss regular unleaded being $0.95 a gallon in the 90s fuggetabout it though. i bought a luxury car fully knowing how expensive premium is.

back to the thread: i know alot of people regularly use injector cleaner. i've always been a big fan and personally i think it makes a difference in how efficiently car will run over time.

i also find that using synthetic oil keeps my mileage a little steadier. when i was driving my SHO i used dino oil and i found that by 4000 highway miles my mpg would start sloping off.

when i used to rock out in my chevy corsica i used engine treatment regularly after i hit 80,000 miles on it. i sold it with 124,000 miles in great running condition but every 10k miles i would pour it in the oil and let it do it's magic. for anyone who isn't familiar with it it's just kerosene more or less and it's supposed to reduce sludge deposits to free up power. personally i think it worked for me but since it eats seals i don't think i would put it in the TL. not that the TL needs it either.

I'm no expert in politics and don't even follow current events regularly, but I am glad to see that he is making the effort. I also don't have a problem paying for the gas...of course I wish it was cheaper but there's nothing I can do about it.
Now, like you said, back to the thread....what engine treatment did you use? I have a friend that drives a GTO and he is trying to get me to start using that Lucas additive that is normally displayed in Autozone. And another friend is trying to get me to use that Royal Purple oil. Right now I use Mobil1 and I've been happy with it but my friends have been saying I'd get better gas mileage/cleaner engine with the other 2. I know, some people say oil is oil...what to do you guys think.

Guys keep the political stuff out or the thread will have to get closed. If you want to do some political rambling we have a special part of the forum just for that called Religion & Politics

You're right; you don't know. You don't know anything. You felt that you "just needa to throw out sumeone's name". I'll throw out a name: wmah523. wmah523 you're an idiot. Don't impose your poorly founded political views on us here in a car forum. Don't post something you cannot back up intelligently with facts. If he is such a "dumb ass" how is he president and a Yale alum? Sure he has had a lot of help, but he is more successful that 99.9% of all Americans. You can't tell me that is not impressive. Regardless of his political policies he has done well for himself. He has millions of people trying to cut him down everyday and still stays on top. So do us all a favor and shut up. Stop assuming everyone on Acurazine is liberal just because most people on MTV and in Los Angeles are.
