maintanance needed light

does anyone know why the maintanance required light comes on? The last time it came on was when I need to change my trans. Does it come on every 3k miles if u dont change ur oil?

the light coming on and you having to change your trans was a total coincidence. the maintanance req light is only a dummy reminder for oil changes. look in the manual, it will tell you how to reset it

Does that reminder remind you every time maintenance is required or just for the first 20k miles or so?

its pre set to come on close to 7000 miles (or something like that) my light is now solid at 7500 or so miles telling me its almost time to change my oil (i do at every 8-10k)
