The maintenance reduired light is on now for 2 days and today my idle is at 1500-1700 rpms,can this be related? egr?idle control valve?

 

If the light is constantly on, see what miles you have. I believe its something like 1000 miles before an 7500 mile interval, the maintainence light will blink for 15 seconds? When you reach a 7500 mile interval, the light will stay on until reset. Don't have the manual infront of me but i know it stays on after 7500 mile intervals. It's just a reminder to check your fluids/change oil and whatever maintainence you need to do.

 

do you know why my idle is at 1500-1700 and stays there? And when i shut off the car,it shakes abit.

 

could it be the egr?

same thing happens to me too, sluggish starts most of the time now also..

 

could be your battery, happen to me for awhile, until finally one time i stayed in my car waiting for my gf to buy something, played music for a good 45 minutes, and then when i needed to start the engine it didn't have enough juice to start. replaced battery, and whoa, i forgot ihow t started up soo quick.

 

thius morning it's down to about 1100-1300,even when i was on the highway and not pressing on the gas,the rpm was at 1200.,so you say it's probably the idle air control?how do i fix it?

 

usually you dont fix it, you usually have to replace it

not usually with a high or low idle.Check all teh vacum hoses. Is your Check Engine light on? if it is bring it in and see what the code is

 

No cel on,just the rpms are very high1200-1500 and sometimes as high as 2000rpm,when i'm coming to a stop the tranny also down shifts hard ever since then,i'm hoping it's due to the high rmp,i calle dthe dealer and they told me it's most probably that. i also check all the hoses.Thanks.

and you're mad at the 168 IAC? Get a 5 year warranty kirkland from costco and use the cash to replace your IAC...

If i was you I would do two things. #1, check the condition of my air filter, and #2, disconnect the battery for 30 mins (just do it overnight) to kill the ECU...

 

my filter is brand new and why would i disconnect the battery?

 

i got a deep cycle battery, so i duno why...
