Lucas oil

Has anybody used lucas trans oil additive for stopping hard shifting as our TL trans do most of the time.

Thanks

Did you ever do a tranny fluid change with plain 'ole Dexron III? That could cause hard shifting.

Yeah I did a fluid change last year. They told me the oil was in good condition, but changed it anyways. It has always shifted kind of rough. Just thought maybe I could add something that could lube better, some kind of additive.

IMO lucas oil has some of the best products on the market. i used the tranny additive in my 1993 Taurus SHO (although i haven't had the need to for the tl). that car had a worse transmission than the tl. complete piece of crap, but a tranny fluid change and the use of lucas oil helped me get another year of use out of it when it began to fail. slipping went away and hard shifts subsided as soon as i used the lucas oil. used it in my girlfriend's 1994 tempo as well a few years back. i've used the steering rack fluid as well. worked like a charm.

here's the thing though, if you change your fluid every 15k miles as directed then there might not be any way to induce smoother shifts. do you have a replacement tranny or old tranny? by all means try the lucas oil if you want, can't harm anything, i just don't know if it will help you.

Original tranny, changed oil at 35K miles it has 40K now. I might just add it anyways.
Thanks for the replies.

Hard shifting is something you would experience in a SMG M3 when you're at WOT and it bangs loudly in to next gear. Always fun to see M3's with 40k miles on it and cracked subframes
