lowering

Ok...so i'm considering lowering my car without my parents knowing. First of all..people told me to get coilovers and slowly lower it, but i hear coilovers don't give a good suspension. So now i'm probably going for springs, but which is a good and cheap brand? i have neon lights under my car and don't want to damage them by going over a bump..so any advice on how low i should go?

I'd get H&R sport springs, great ride, moderate drop.

according to shyne, comptechs might rust a little. plus, H&R's are a comparable alternative to comptechs...

You sound like me, I want to lower it without my parents knowing I just bought an eibach pro kit but haven't gotten it installed yet. Im sure my dad will know when he takes my car, goes over a speed bump and Im suddenly missing a body kit:wow:

That is false!

I have the Apexi Coilovers on my 99 TL and the ride is near stock but the handling is greatly improved. I just lowered it 3" for the spring but it was raised up before for the winter.

it souds like coilovers give a good ride. i have heard good things about all of them but the apexi's and the tein's are the most affordable full coilover systems i believe. just click on suspension up above.

I have a comptech springs and I also have underbody neons. No scraping at all. Just be careful when you drive. If anyone is interested in seeing my neons, click here: http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...7&pagenumber=1

it really depends if you just get coilover it sould only take you about and hour at the most, but if you get kind like tein or sustec it would be close to 2

I am speaking for my Apexi Coilovers. Depending on the guy installing them, it should take no more than 2 hours.

As far as adjusting the height, it is very easy. It comes with 2 wrenches (I guess just in case you lose one cause they are both identical). It will be easier if you take the wheel off. All you do is use the wrench to adjust them.

ya, but those apexi coilovers are a little over my price range....600 hundered dollar over!! i saw that there are 3 h&r springs...i'm leaning towards the sport springs, because the race spring is way too low and the other one not worth buying because it barley lowers the car.

get h&r sport springs. i just installed them in my 2002 tls and its is great. the ride is really just like stock except when you go over massive pot holes or something, usually try to dodge those. but if your paps is going to take a ride with h&r sport, no missing parts when you come home. it is the most even drop i have seen on the ts. the comptech lowering gives it a rake look, if you like that go with comptech, but h&r if you want even drop.

i looked at the H&R springs, and you think it'll be noticable for a 1.5-2 inch drop? how much stability will it increase to the car?

I'll warn you now...

With Ground Control Coilovers and Skunk2 Coilovers, your parents are definitely going to know. The ride of the car will significant change become very bouncy and harsh.

Just tell them you are changing the springs b/c the dealer guy recommends that the springs need to be changed due to some defect and you are getting some aftermarket ones b/c they are cheaper than the stocks...

My suggestion is if you want it to ride like stock get eibach pro kits but be prepared for some shaving b/c it will rub.

If you want a sporter ride get the h&r sport springs...

And I do have Apex'i coilovers they are noisy as hell over bumps... so I would think they would know...

my 2 cents...

peace..

h&r sports are damn good, i've tried comptech and can't really reccomend them.

rust is not good for springs, neither is a 2 year warranty.

eibach, h&r, and neuspeed make great shocks (neuspeed springs aren't produced by them, they're name brand and cheaper).

lifetime warranty, no sag guarantee and rust free.
