So I decided to change oil pans due to a stripped drain nut. I replaced the pan, put in fresh 4.5 quarts of 5w20, cranked it up and went for a test drive. I got a solid red light on the "low oil pressure" indicator, and then came back home. No rough running or noises. I checked the oil level, and it was fine. I maybe thought maybe since I hadn't removed the oil filter, that maybe I overfilled the crankcase and that replacing the filter would be best. The filter had my fresh oil in it, and I put on a new one without putting any additional oil in the filter. I cranked the car again and the light stayed on so I moved onto replacing the original oil pressure switch with a new one. The boot and the yellow connector inside were so brittle that they cracked when I pulled it off the switch exposing the metal contact inside. I reconnected the contact, but now the motor won't stay running and the light is still on. The motor runs for about 15 seconds and then shuts down. I removed the filter again and now the filter is empty. I need next steps. Oil pump failure?, pickup screen clogged? assuming that the wiring from the switch is as old as the car, is there a replacement wire harness from the oil pressure switch to what ever it plugs into on the other end? Any help in identifying where this would connect would be appreciated as well. Failing these being the issue, what next? Oil pressure test? What would have caused this to occur during an oil pan swap? Thanks for the help in advance?

Also should I try replacing the oil sender solenoid?

I just read that the oil pan could be the wrong one and too shallow and blocking all the oil from reaching the pickup tube. Gonna check this right away!

Since you fail to identify what model (base or type-s) & year your car is, I used 2003 TL-S.
The link below has the oil pan, which looks not to be available from the dealer.
Make sure your aftermarket oil pan part # reconciles with the OEM part # listed for correct fitment:

It was the wrong pan as described I had read. Replaced it with the correct pan from an MDX, and all is well again. Thank you acurazine community!
