Lost Keys...now what?

I lost my keys last night and need to get new ones. I still have the grey valet key. I searched the forum but couldnt find anything. Is my only option going to Acura and getting a brand new key fob and key? How much will this run me?

no just go on ebay and find the same remote as your car. its located where the sticker says and get mem 1 or mem 2 whichever one you lost. match the serial number and purchase that. search somewhere on the forum where it will teach you how to pair it.

It depends on what dealer and wwhich type of key. I believe it's only two types of options. Option 1 would be the regular key and the fob. Option 2 is the switch blade key. I think switch blade cost more and some people have said paid $75-$250 for news keys and fobs at the Acura dealership. There are several threads that give pricing I forgot which ones though. Just get a set made from Acura. You can't go to Walmart and get one made, it won't work. Our keys have codes on them and the engine immobilizer has to recognize them, if it doesn't then your car won't start. Be safe and head to the Acura dealer.

I'd say you look on ebay or the black market for a remote and then head off to your local dealership for the key and compare prices. The remote is easy to program but the key you would need it cut by Acura.

I'm not sure you can get the switchblade key for the second gen TLs. I'm pretty sure the chip for the immobilizer isn't the same.

Yeah im considering that too. I bought my car used from an acura dealership....am I entitled to 2 key fobs and 2 sets of keys? All i received was one key fob, 1 key, and a valet key.

You got a valet key- lucky bzturd!

If just a used car and you did not specify 2 keys in the contract---
if all they got was 1 from old owner thats all they gave you
Or they kept 1 in case your ever late on payments- thats possible too

Always speak with Sales Manager not salesman about things like this- they may goodwill you one if they did allright on the sale.
