loss of trany fluid

hi guys... i had a new tranny put in about a yr ago by acura. just recently i noticed harsher than normal gear shift so i checked the transmission fluid and it was a little low. i dumped a bottle of fluid in that i got from acura and it seemed to fix the problem. now it seems to be shifting harsh again. should this be expected? should i have to top up the tranny fluid about once a month or every 2 months? seems a little abnormal to me. mind you car does have 280 000km on it.

any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated..

sounds like a seal has failed- you should not have to top it off- pretty much ever~
Since you had acura do the trans a year ago, stop by there and speak with the service manager.
If you can look underneath and see if its coming from the axle or from the area where the engine and trans meet- that helps diagnose the problem

The trans shouldnt be using any fluid. I would start looking for a leak. (i also would have brought it up with acura about it. if there was a problem it may have been covered?)

drive 15 minutes on freeway cruising to warm trans- stop- put in park and shut engine OFF
remove trans dipstick and wipe- insert fully- remove and read
Should be between the dots
Other temp reading will be way off
