what do you guys think it would take, seriously for the car to spin out? How do you know if your car can handle the curve?

I've had my car into what's called a "4 wheel drift"......several times.....But I've gotten rid of the stock tires since then.

My bone stock tires can handle the posted exit MPH + 15. So if the exit ramp says 25, then I know I can go 40. I drive aggressively sometimes

I know what it takes because i've done it many times when practicing in empty parking lots for autocrossing. The car will not do complete spins because it is FWD. It cannot drift either.

You just kinda gotta get to know your car... I can't say i have a true feel of my car cause something always has to change in my car like weight or tires or something else, but i can more or less tell weather it can take a turn at a certain speed...

Thumbs down

Aparently not much... I was driving on the three lane highway and it was curved, maybe like a 25-30% turn and I was going in at about 70MPH which was fine but than a guy in from of me decided to slow down and I had to push the brakes hard... and the f*****g car just started to lose its tail, I barely kept it from going sideways... that wasn't much fun in a 1-week old car...
My old Mazda Protege handeled much better...

Just my 2 cents...

would you mind telling us how to put it into a full drift then? And I don't mean just a few feet or using stupid tricks like e-braking because our e-brake is a foot one.

The TL is front wheel drive, so if you want to do doughnuts you'll have to do them in reverse. TL has plenty of power, so you can do 'em until you can't see from all the smoke - I promise. Just turn traction control off first.

Talk about losing it, my brother crashed my TL on Monday b/c he lost control of the car when he was making a right turn. He didn't get to make the whole turn, he started to skid half way into the turn and ended up next to a tree and scratching up the whole car on the right side. It's weird.

no offense taken. but you do realize that more often than not, drifting results in slower track times do u?

Hmmm... the OEM michelins were good for practicing on-edge handling.

With the Bridgestones, I'm afraid it takes much more balls to get to the same point.

I'm afraid once you hit the limit of adhesion there is no coming back.

Maybe in the spring I can get some track time to try it out and build my confidence
