Look at my trunk!

Okay so I was cleaning out my trunk and look at what I found. The other day I changed out my tails back to the amber ones to pass for state inspections(freakin VA). And I didn't tighten the nuts on the back of the tails. It rained and rained and I didn't think anything of it. Now I see what happens what you do that. Oh yea cleaned it out obviously

A few years ago, my father got rear ended in his 03 on the highway. The body shop put a faulty gasket under the trunk and the florida summertime rains filled the trunk tub with a pool of water, higher than the spare tire. So it had to go back to the shop for another 3 weeks for them to grind out the rust, reapply bondo and paint and then wait for the trunk insert to come in.

Someone said there's a plug in the spare tire compartment that you can remove to prevent the pool you have there.
Haven't checked for myself though.

Gold fish was the only thing missing!! I think that Black cap in the upper left hand portion of the 3rd pic might be it. I just used a cup and some towels cause i knew nothing of a drain. It would only make sense though.

Yes, there is a plug in the spare tire compartment.

I removed it incase my trunk floods. Alot of users complaining about the rear tails leaking, so I removed it to relieve the water if mine ever decide to do so.

Didn't know the WD40 would take the rust out. Gonna take care of that today. Sub and amps are all gone. Left the wiring just in case I decided to go back. Atleast that wire is gonna be changed lol.

Dont pull the plug and leave it out moisture can get in because its out. Fix the leak.

I used wd40 to scrub the rust, and it does protect the rust from coming back.
I cleaned my outter rotors area with it, and somewhat it works.

Pop the plug out to get the water out, then dry it with a towel and put the plug back in. You can see the round plugs in the pic
