Head lights are the "eyes" of the cars. There always been a saying, "An eye for an eye." Place a curse on the TLs: Whoever those fuc_ed up stink @$$holes ripped the "eyes" off from our TLs will get their own f_cking seeing eyes (on their braindead heads) ripped w/o their conscent by someone else so they can't see anything anymore!

That is horrible. My wife and I just spent the weekend in New Jersey at her parents' place (not too far from you - Manasquan).
Damn. Wish Acura could wire those things so unauthorized removal sent a few thousand volts through the thieves.

The cops just said that this was a new one for them, took the report and left. They don't take prints around there unless it's a carjacking. With almost 200,00 people in the city, they don't have time to track down theiving peices of S**T!!

Posted this on another thread...
just picked up my car from getting serviced and asked the service manager if he'd heard on any TLs losing their lights in the Chicago area. He mentioned that he hadn't
He also mentioned something else that I wonder if any of you agree/disagree with. He mentioned that the HIDs in our cars is an integrated system and you just can't take the headlamps and ballasts from our cars and put them on a car that doesn't have a HID system (i.e. Honda Accord or Civic). If their stealing them for parts for another TL, that's another story.
Any thoughts?
The other thing he said (I'm not sure I agree with him on this), he mentioned that our cars have a glass breakage sensor. He was specific to say not a shock sensor, but a glass breakage sensor. I haven't seen anything in the manual.
As for HIDs being stolen in the Chicago area, it was news to him. He said the biggest problem around here is airbag and wheel theft. That's why they put wheel locks on every car they take delivery on.
He also went on to tell me of an incident that occured at the Lexus dealer where he worked previously. The dealer was in kind of a remote area surrounded by open fields. They came in on Monday to find EVERY car in their back lot had all of the airbags stolen. What they did was break the window, quickly open the hood and cut the battery cable to silence the alarm, and removed both airbags!
Can you imagine the insurance claim on that one?

Got the estimate
Just got back from the body shop. They came up with a total of $2591.52. That includes 2 fender repairs, bumper repair, and headlight replacement. I don't know, that sounds kind of low to me. Hope he ordered the right lights, I'd hate to make them do it twice. This is an independent shop, Liberty Mutual makes you go to one of their shops. If you go to Acura for the repairs you're responsible for the difference. Also said I'll have my car back on Thursday or Friday....We'll see about that!

Make sure the bumper cap is replaced not repaired. When the thieves pull it off, the holes that attach it to the car are ripped open. If the body shop tries to jury rig a fix to your existing bumper cap it won't fit correctly. You could also incur more damage than necessary if you have a low speed accident as the bumpers ability to "float" will be screwed up. I found this out when thieves pulled my bumper cap off but got scared off before they could get my lights. Good luck.

Sporty X type
That SUXXXXX! What's wrong w/ people sense of value. Sorry 2 see. I have an idea, & I'll post here, b/c I want the bad guys to think about this. There is a chemicle that makes your hands turn blue for up 2 a week. I was thinking about putting it on the back of the headlamp piece, bottom of the bummper. IF the police happpen to see them, pawn shops are notified, maybe someone will get caught (we can only hope they do!)
Steve, b/c of ur pain, I won't argue w/ya about hockey(but the AV's are going 2 win it again!)

Not sure if someone posted already...
From my understanding it is fairly easy to do......
1. 1 Thief steps on front of bumper (weighs it down)
2. THis allows thief #2 to get his hand under lights that basically almost pop out!!
3. Not sure how many screws but must not take that long.
SO.
1. ***** at ACURA for making this too easy to steal.
2. Sounds like an inside job, i.e. Acura mechanics doing it, they're boys whatevever but the way it's done only a technitian would know the specifics......
I agree somebody needs to get their hands cut off.......

Sorry to see that Steve33168.
BLEXV6, Mogilny didn't do much to help Devils in the playoffs, don't expect much from him with the Leafs next year. 1967 and counting.
Go Devils!

Un#$%&n believable. It's starting to get out of hand.
I may want to opt for a shock sensor or second air horn.
I already mentioned in a previous post about a buddy of mine who had his yanked off his A4.
dude....what to do. Proximity sensors??????
Good luck!

Waddya mean Leafs? Go Canucks go!!! OK, maybe that's a little far fetched. But you have to admit, they are an improved team. Hopefully we can sign Brett Hull (what are the chances? )

STILL WAITING
Well, I was supposed to get the car back on the tenth. Here it is the fourteenth and, NO CAR! I was told that Acura sent one wrong headlight assembly and that he had to re-order that one. They claim I'll have my car back tomorrow. I've had cars in the shop before but, I've never missed them like I miss my TLS.

Maybe you should forward this picture to Acura/Honda.
Car magazines (Autoweek for sure) has mentioned theft of HID lights and the manufacturers say that they are not aware of a problem.
I _wouldn't_ forward it to a magazine, like Autoweek. They'd print it! Then more morons would be alerted to destroy our cars.
Now let me finish throwing up..............

Man, we are so sorry for you. Don't you just wish you could get your hands on the jerks that wreck a beautiful car like yours?
Just hard to believe this would happen in Elizabeth.
Our hearts go out to you.

Suxxxxx!
Maaan, that sucks! But you've now motivated me to get an upgrade to the stock alarm system. I park in a garage, but I'm not parked there 24x7. You've got me seriously motivated to do more to protect my car.
I've already had to replace one headlight (under warranty) because it was filling up like a fishbowl full of water! But...
WHY WOULD SOMEONE STEAL THE HEADLIGHTS?
It just doesn't make that much sense to me if they can't be used on other cars too. Can there really be that much of a market for them for other Acura's or is there some other piece that they're really going for?
Sincerely,
Scared and Confused in Denver

If I had three wishes one would definitely be to catch all car thieves, lock them in a room with me for 1 week. I would strip them down, tie their hands and feet, and everyday for the week i would walk in and punch the sh!t out of them. Then I would throw hot water on them then cold. Then I would give them a deep cut across their chest, let it bleed then sew it up and re-cut them the next day. Then I would shave all their heads and tatoo I am an a-hole all over their heads. Finally I would insert a feeding tube into their stomachs, feed them 24 hours a day and sew their a$$holes closed. The only thing they would want to steal after this would be a knife or gun so they could kill themselves. And their souls could go express to HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Secondly, Don't trash the Leafs as it hurts me too much that they have not won since 1967(the Stanley Cup). I know Mogilny will suck for us. (Spelled Correctly).
Thirdly, There is no way legally that your Insurers can tell you to go to their preferred shops. They must give you the choice and the appraisers can work out a cost with Acura (talk to your Acura dealer, as they will likely know how to get around this). BTW, I think State Farm just got wacked with major punitive damages for putting parts on cars other than OEM, (ie after market).
Although I am a Canadian Adjuster, I can assure these rules are the same in both Countries.

Got my car back!!!!
Picked up my car on Wednesday. Everything looks great, they used genuine Acura parts and did a great job! Had the car inspected by the dealer, they said everything looks fine. I think I put about 500 miles on it in the 2 days I've had it back!

BLEXV6, My insurance company told me that I could have Acura do the work, but they needed to send out an adjuster to work out a deal with the Acura dealer. Insted of waiting "about a week" for them to do that, I just went to one of their shops. Worked out very well, the dealership said they know the body shop and they do great work. Guess I got lucky this time.

I had to have my headlights and bumper on my old Integra replaced due to an accident, using the shop Acura said to use (same owner). The headlight level bubbles were no where near working -- if you wanted the headlights to actually shine ahead of you.
Shop: "Yeah, I don't know why they put those things on there... they never work."
They never worked again and the shop was a real pain about getting little things right.
I guess what I'm saying --- make sure the bubble levels still work (if the TL has them!)
