Look at my beautiful lights

Woke up this morning and this is what I saw. Guess that's what I get for staying at my parents house for the weekend. They're in Elizabeth.

Absolutely horrible!!! I hope the repair goes quickly and smoothly. As the others have mentioned, I also check my lights whenever I return to the car!

thats why everyone should install a shock sensor, the horns on our car are VERY loud, I can even stand to make it go off on purpose for more than 5 seconds during daytime, because it is sooo loud...

Thanks

Thanks everyone, the worst part is that the dealerships are closed on Sunday. I can't take it in till tomorrow. I guess I better go make sure the old '87 Blazer is in running condition.

Ow, my eyes, my eyes! That's truly disgusting.

Actually can you send me (PM or post) more close-up pictures of the damage? I'm trying to come up with a practical way of preventing these headlight thefts... more info would be great.

That hurts to see. Sorry man.
To help us others, can you post some close up pics and describe the steps you think they went thru to get the lights. Also exactly what is damaged. Maybe someone can come up with a stop to this madness if we had more details.

I took about 8 pics, some close-ups. This board won't let me post anything over 100k. The pics are about 700k each. I should have time to reduce them tomorrow. (since I won't be driving anywhere).

It looks like they forced the bumper cover down, some parts of this are bent or broken. Then they very nicely removed the lights. They even left me the brackets and bolts.

The only real damage besides the lights is the part where the fender attaches to the bumper cover, it's all bent up. The bumper cover itself has one good chunk taken out of it.

This sh1t is really making me sick! Those BASTARDS!!!! Anybody living in the Tri-state area should at a mininum install shocksensor's. I installed a aftermarket unit on top of the factory one. I also put in airhorns and shocksensor's(yes plural 3 total) for each headlight(still fine tuning this cause it's waaaaay too sensitive), working on more preventitive measures but it's all still just a deterent. I'm very sorry about your car man, what goes around will come around to those POS's!

I'm all for coming up with idea's to prevent this but I'm not to crazy about discussing it on the forum without some restraint. I remember a post a while ago when someone posted practically every step of ripping the light's off (a "How to" article if you will ) One guy posted saying the same thing I'm saying. Unfortunately the good aren't the only one who can read this forum. E-mail each other or something.

Dam we wanna enjoy this car, not worry about it

I had to just go outside and check my lights after I saw the picture this morning. I feel your pain. I wish the car didn't come with HIDS so I wouldn't have to worry about them all the time.

E-mail them to me and I will host them and post them on here.

I'm interested to see them as well.

Don't worry about the sizes when sending them to me... my e-mail will be able to handle up to 2MB per e-mail.

Those low life, skunk sucking, slime eating, cheap gutless bastards should be hung by their distributer caps!

This obviously has to be some sort of organized group ravaging these headlights.

The insurance industry, Acura, and the cops should set up a few sting operations in the area where all of these crimes are happening and arrest these f*ckers and send them away and take their cars.

You know how NYC has that law that lets them take a drunk drivers car? Well, anyone caught vandalizing someone elses car, even if they key it, should lose their car. If they don't have one, then get the parents car. SCREW THEM.

People work hard to own a nice car, and these weasles come along and violate the owners property and they KNOW that it takes forever to get the repair done, and once a car has been vandalized, it's hard not to alway keep that in the back of your mind.

For crying out loud, you can't even stay overnight at your parents house.

AAAARRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope Nissan gets the new Maxima out ASAP so they can go after them and leave us TL folks alone. Maybe then the cops will go after these *******s....

Obviously, these lights must be very popular and high demand. How much $ are they worth to these theifs? Can they fit into a lot of other cars?

Unhappy

Does anyone know what other cars would take our lights? Do they take the whole assembly and just use the internal parts?

This really sucks, but I have not heard of this happening in Canada yet. Anyone in Canada have this problem. Anyone, anyone.

Does anyone know if they use the lenses as well when they steal them? Because if they do people can do to glass etching places and have them etch the vin number on the lense so people can see them before they try and take them.

I am thinking of relaying the stock alarm (which sucks to the third degee) through the mounting screws for the hid system that way they might damage the bumber and fenders but at least they don't have my lights. I don't know if there is a way to deter theifs without them first ripping the bumper off......

I would LOVE to catch someone trying to take my lights! I think after I beat the hell out of them I would tell the officers that he tried carjacking me with the screw driver he was actually using to steal my lights What can he say? Um...i wasn't trying to carjack him, just steal the lights with this screw driver...hehe. Don't worry, i'll post live action shots of the event!!!!!

Please let me know the outcome of this situation with your insurance company as well as what the dealer has to say about this shoddy design of the alarm system!

Sorry bro...

Don't feel too bad. Same thing happened to me. From the looks of it, they took it out the same way they took mine. I needed new fenders and a new bumper. As I was going to different body shops, I found another TL with the headlights gone.

This happened to me during the day. In the parking lot of COMP USA on route 46 between the hours of 11 and 2. I don't understand how no one say anything...

LESSON FOR YOU ALL...

1. Park where traffic or people walk through a lot...
2. The brighter the spot...the better...
3. Park valet whenever you can...
4. NEVER PARK at curbs or streets at night..
5. Install shock sensor

yeah, real sorry for you dude. couple of suggestions:
1) get shock and proximity sensors hooked up to afer market
alarm system (Alpine or Clifford)
2) also get pager with your system.
3) carry with you one of those collapsable steel batons with
you.
4) alarm goes off, pager goes off. you run to your car and
beat the *#@* out of them. If the situation is too dangerous,
call cops
5 problem solved
