Locking Topics
It seems that more and more threads are getting locked(closed & moved) these days. Somebody locked a thread just because a guy posted a pic of his car in the discussion and not in the gallery. I remeber the days when everybody posted pics of their cars in the discussion part of the forum and there where no problems. What happened to the good old days when this place wasn't so heavily policed?

I believe the point the Mods are trying to make is that they shouldn't have to move topics where they belong. We are all smart enough to post in the appropriate forum and that's their way of telling us to.
People aren't checking the other forums enough because everything is dumped into TL Discussion making it difficult for the people that post where they belong to get any responses.
I could be wrong.

this is TL Discussion, there's other forums called TL Gallery, Off Topic, For Sale/Wanted, etc. I think the moderators are doing what they should do, or this forum will just blow up someday.

Wow, you guys are answering questions for us, too! Yes, both you guys are correct. We have other forums here on Acura-TL.com, and they are there for a reason.. We are trying to liven up the site a little more and utilize the other forums for their use. I spoke with Snook, and he's going to create another forum dedicated to Wheels/Rims and only that, so if anyone wants anyone elses opinion about a rim, or anyone wants to see what a rim looks on their car, it will all go in there.. We're not trying to make all your lives difficult, we are trying to organize this site to make it easy for everybody to get any info that they need about their rides...any questions or requests, please don't hesitate to send me a PM, or any other mods on the site.. Snook's been absent lately because he has had a lot of work on his shoulders with the sites, so it's up to us mods and all of your cooperation to make this site be as good as it really is! Keep in mind, that if the post is closed, it's usually moved, unless the post is going nowhere, or it's a flame..

That locked thread mentioned above was a mistake when it was moved...it's open in the Gallery now. Like Acura3200 & Red Hot said, we're just trying to stay orgainzed. Before SNooK added the CL and MDX forums, we had specific descriptions for each forum to keep topics related.

As for me, I never go to the other forums. I guess i will just miss out, but I for one feel that it is a shame the way things seem to be heading...
Either way, this board is still much better than H/A.net, and also superior to even our own CL board in terms of censorship and whining.
For me, the less levels and different sections the better - I really just come here to talk cars!

so if I were to say post a thread after Shoofin gets his butt (and injured knee) out to the California sunshine to test drive my S2000, it would be moved? or would it be locked?

There was a locked thread posted here that was moved over to the gallery. I went over there for the first time in a while, and I stumbled upon many other pictures while there. In all, I think moving the threads is cool. It makes for a much more organized forum. As this site grows, more and more people will be posting. And without moderation, the TL discussion will be overflowed. The recent change in policy just takes some getting used to. It is for the best.
What I DON'T want is too many categories. With tech solutions, installation instructions, Type S, audio electronics, and a soon to be added wheels section...it becomes sort of a bother to go through them all. Further more, all these categories leave little to be talked about in the TL discussion forum itself. A few sections is cool. All just my humble opinion. thanks for reading.

We aren't trying to Micro-organize, we're trying to make it easier for current as well as new users to just go and look for what they are trying to find..How many times do you want to answer the same question a newbie asks when he comes on here? Don't get me wrong, I understand how you all feel..I am on a number of sites that I post on, and they are FAR more strict than here with what material goes where...Just MY $.02

You guys should go check out IS300.net, and then you will see what true cencorship is.
As for there being too many categories, well it helps to narrow topics a bit. If you want to know about the TLS, go to the TL Type S forum. If you want help with your audio stuff, go to the audio forum. What do you want to read about today? Whatever it is, it should not be hard to find a discussion about it because of the many categories here. Most people here don't go through everything. If they have a specific question there is a specific forum to go to which should make it easier instead of picking through 10 thousand posts in only 2 or three forums, and the search function is not perfect all the time in helping you find what you want specifically.

I think the moderators are doing a great job! The other forums keep things organized. When too many topics end up in the TL discussion forum its gets out of hand. If for some reason you cant check the site for a few days you end up missing a lot of good posts.
I think the rims/tires section will be a good idea too.
just my 2 cents....
