Loaner Car
Are loaner cars only offered if the car is still under warranty?
I have a 03 TL-S and a 98 RL. Whenever I bring in the TL, I always get a loaner but when I bring in the RL, the service manager says that the best he can do is give me 15% off a rental at Enterprise when I see 5 RSX loaners just parked in front.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have bought a bunch of new cars in the past 22 years and I have never seen a car dealer that will give you a loaner car for service unless its the vehicle being serviced is under warranty. If they gave rental cars to everyone, they would have to have a whole fleet of loaner cars and whos gonna pay for that, we will with higher service prices.

Its upto the dealer...
Tthe one I goto has competitive prices and will give out a loaner... but they have very few so you have to book them when you make an appointment.

When I bring my wife's 1994 Volvo in for service I always get a loaner, usually a new S60. I just have to schedule an appointment for when one is available. I have had one for 4 days once when a part needed was not available. So it all depends on the dealer.

Dealers typically use loaners as a means of getting a new car that they would like to sell you into your hands for a day. It is a win for them, the manufacturer gives them a discount, you may buy a new car, and they get to sell the loaner car.
They also know that you will come back more often for service if you know that you are getting a car to drive for the day.

The Lexus dealers always provided me with a free loaner ES300, or RX300 when I took my Lexus for any maintenance work that took more than a couple of hours. The Nissan dealer where I bought a Nissan recently also offer free loaner for any major maintenance services. I hope Acura dealers are running Honda's luxury brand like a Honda dealership.

I've been offered loaners twice while my TL-S was being serviced (under warranty). First time, I got an Acura RSX. Second time, I got a Chevy Cavalier from Enterprise (free of charge). Boy, what a crappy car. Makes me wonder why people would even consider buying that model.

I always get a loaner, but I would NEVER consider buying one. Some of them have about 10k on them and it looks and drives like its around 90k. No matter what people say no one respects loaners. The might not beat on them, but the defniatelky don't treat them as their own.

Here in the bay, lexus has the best loaner and dealer service.
Lexus of Fremont- take your pick, you can choose from '01 ES300, RX300, IS300, and new '02 ES300.
BMW- by far the worst. So what this is what I have got from BMW dealers- Kia Spectra, Geo Metro, Daewoo something, PT cruiser, corolla.
MB- Corolla
Acura- mix bag. Steve Creek gave me a Ford Focus. Even though I bought the car from them. I can't even get a Integra. Sunnyvale- Geo Metro 4 door with no power steering.
Acura of Pleasanton- beat up integra. Although quiet new, but drive like someone has abused it.

Here in Honolulu, our one and only Acura dealership offers a bunch of RSX's/Integra's, a few TL's, CL's, and RL's. To get the TL/CL/RL's, I've heard that it really depends on the luck of the draw. Whatever is next to go out, is what you get when you bring your car in for service. If they run out of cars, they go ahead and get rental cars.
My friend who brought in his '93 vigor recieved a new CL-P. And a friend's co-worker brought her TL-P in for service and recieved a '01 RL. Just my luck...I always seem to get an integra('00). Don't you think they should give you something comparable to what you currently drive? I guess I shouldn't complain..at least they give out loaners rite?

getting a loaner car depends on alot of different thing....yes if the car is under warranty and will be there for more then a couple of hours you will get a loaner car if there is one available.....second if you are a long time customer of that dealership and have a good relationship there you will most likly be able to get a loaner car for a service that maybe lenghty. and i hate to say this but if you are someone who maybe a potential customer you will probably be able to get a loaner car.

I still be able to get a loaner car when drop my '97 Nissan Altima for service. The dealer may not have one for you the date you drop for service. But I always reserve one when I call for an appointment. They'll tell you what date the loaner is available and what date is not.

Dealers are not obligated to give you a loaner car even if the car is under warranty, but they try to work it out especially if you book appt. in advance to arrange a loaner.
Loaner car is a "SERVICE", they usually reserve those for customers who bought their car from that dealer. They would not go out of their way to get a loaner for you if you (are not one of them) didn't purchase your car from them.
I guess the policy differs for each and every company and dealers...
