Light blue tint on side mirrors.

I've seen some TL's with the blue tint on the side mirrors, similar to the 05 TL, Audi, BMW, etc... Is this a stock feature for the '02?

If not, has anyone here tried to put a light blue tint on their side mirrors?

I believe its standard on the 02's and up. i don't have that on my 00' so i put a light blue tint on mine and it turned out good. its been like that for three years now and its sort of scratched up now from winter and stuff. Hopefully i can get it redone soon.

Yeah I did a search, there was (1) thread like this before but the guy suggested spraying them blue. That's ridiculous IMO - I'd rather use a light blue vinyl.

how and where did you get it tinted?

did you actually buy blue film and do it yourself or got it done at a tint shop?

I got the tint done at a shop. It cost like $20 bucks a side back then.

Is this purely for cosmetic purposes? Or does tinting them actually do something...

it doesn't do much.. its just for cosmetic purposes, but it kinda keeps the glare down from those larger trucks and jeeps.

i would think it helps a lot if you do night time driving like me. i was the person that asked before b/c i do a lot of night time + stop and go driving. it really does a lot to the eyes, and yes, the tint on the rearview helps a lot, but they would be much better accompanied by the side mirrors being tinted - hence this is probably why the 02+ has the tint on it..

hmm.... i konw this can be done at a tint shop, but i'm still wondering if there's a do-it-yourself kind of project for it..?? i wanna save as much money as possible

why not just buy light blue tint film and put it on yourself.. i would say its same as any other tints. mix dishwasher soap and water into a spray bottle, spray it directly onto the mirror (after you clean it really well), and then the films should stick.. once its on, spread all the water/moisture out and then use an exacto knife to cut the remains to give it a good clean look. i dont see that it could be too hard.. probably close to rear taillamp/front headlamp tinting..

most rice shops carry it.

a few big automotive shops should have it as well.. pep boys has alot of colored ones. but you could always try strauss, autozone, etc. circuit city also carries them for some reason.. it should be next to the neon glows and stuff.. hahaha
