Letter from an acura dealer

i came home tonight to find a letter on the table from an acura dealer from conneticuit saying i have a highly sought after car in the used car market... it said they would pay me over market value and i could save thousands on a new 06 or 07 tl... how much of a scam is this? it got me thinking about trading for an 07 TL-S... if anyone knows anythign about these sort of promotions please let me know, because now these ass hats at acura have me thinking about a new car... AGAIN.

Not a scam, but...

There's a measure of truth to it, but only to the fact that it is a car in demand. This is just another way of bringing you into the dealership to get a new car. It costs them next to nothing to mail you a postcard, but if you get in the showroom, they have a much better chance of taking you for a $35000+ new car. If you are happy with what you have, toss the card. If you wanna buy new, do it. It's just a marketing tool to get you thinking. It worked, didn't it?

one time i was at the mall and when i came out to my car, there was a business card from a dealership and on the back it said that my car was in good shape and that if i wanted to trade it i would get a good return and put me in a new car. i tossed it and laughed

I've received multiple letters from my dealership asking me to sell them my car. It's just another marketing ploy as stated above... I've always been curious how much they would offer me though.

They didn't need to send me a card to get me to the dealership to test drive the 07 TL-S. I really wanted to see how responsive the paddle shifters were on the AT. I love my car and really didn't want to trade it to begin with so I gave them some ridculous numbers that I knew they wouldn't be able to meet and went from there. I got my test drive took about 20 minutes talking numbers and in the end when it didn't work out for them, I left and don't have to worry about the hassle of having the dealer call me back. Now if the numbers really did work out the way I wanted them to, I probably would be driving an 07 TL-S right now. The car was great, paddle shifters were extremely responsive and the suspension had a very solid feel to it. And the rearview camera was sweet. I'm thinking about doing the mod on my car now.

At this point I havent heard of very many '07 TL-S at a "good price." I think your trigger finger should be safe.

haha im hoping its safe because being only 18 WITHOUT the support of my parents money for a car i really didnt look too much into the market for an 07 TL-S... hell i still have just a bit left to pay off on my current tl anyway....but i knew looking into an 07 would just get my hopes up for an unreasonable purchase so i tried to stay away... oh well i guess im going to have to fight off temptation yet again... hopefully by the time the 4th gens come out ill be good to go :-)... the thing that really got my attention was that they said up to $8,000 off on 07's.
