Post Lemon?????

Well the dealership called and left a message on my voicemail saying that the oil leakage was coming from way up in the engine. On Monday they are going to have to get way up there and take the whole thing apart! They hope to have it fixed by the end of next week. It's brand new with only 100 miles on it. I just wish i could tell them to keep the car and give me my money back!

Ask them if they can do an exchange?

Work your way up the chain at Acura to get a new car. If the dealer won't budge start calling and writing Acura headquarters. This certainly not Acura quality, in fact I am not sure it is Daewoo quality. I expect that once Acura brass find out your situation they will make it right. Thay are not going to compete with Lexus, BMW etc. with cars like yours.

Damn dude! I'd definitely try for an exchange. Unfortunately, unless they can't fix it after three shots (then you could lemon law it), there's not a lot you can do except make noise with Acura HQ and try to gain their sympathy. Legally, once you sign the contract or lease, it's yours for better or worse. Good luck and I'm sorry you're having such heavy-duty problems so early.

You should SERIOUSLY first talk to the General Manager and discuss the possibility of a swap for a new vehicle -- because, there is NO way you caused the leaking engine in the first 100 miles!!#$@ Second, if he's not receptive to that idea, then I would call the Better Business Bureau, and the BBB Autoline -- both will CERTAINLY guide you as to what legal actions you can pursue. Third, I would talk to you lawyer. Something doesn't seem legit about having to OPEN the engine for repair only 100 miles into the car. What kind of longterm problems do you think that may cause?

dog.com,

After reading one of your earlier posts about this problem, I mentioned it to my salesman when I bought the car this morning. He said that at his dealership, they would have replaced the car by now.

Start pushing for it at the dealership, and then go right to the top with Acura if necessary. Keep us all posted!

It's time to use the lemon law--don't put up with it you paid too much money to have your car laid up for weeks. Contact your state consumer affairs deportment and start your lemon law investigation---they may change their tune. You should be getting a survey in the mail from Acura--the dealer gets graded and paid according to your answer

Hang in there!!!!!

Yup, hold the survey until you have had a chance to make some noise. Do everything everyone said, the local law and Acura/Honda to make sure this mess gets corrected.

I would be so pissed off if I just paid close to $30k and my engine is already leaking.

Good luck man.

Holy Moley!

Looks like Acura RUSHED out the 2002 TLS and overlooked the quality control?

I'm definitely considering ordering one from the factory rather than buying the ones now sitting on the dealer lot!

Definitely don't want to buy a sweet new TLS and find problems like misaligned doors and exhaust pipes, noisy side mirrors, oil leak!

I actually had a similar problem with a Honda Odyssey I bought in 99. It was the first year out for the Odyssey and it had a few "issues". The biggest problem I had was a transmission that could not decide what gear to be in. I had to haggle with the dealer to fix it, because they couldn't "reproduce" the problem. I finally told them to keep the van until they fixed it. I gave the mechanics permission to drive it as much as they wanted, in fact I said to take it home with you until you notice the problem. A couple days later they called up and said that I would be getting a new transmission. That was 30,000 miles ago and the van has worked great ever since.

So at the very least, get them to replace the tranny and any and all parts that could be attributed to the leaking.
