so the same LED that you used in the shift gate are the same ones you used for all the buttons on the dash and gauge cluster? (The 74 Type thats flat on the top?)

Once I get to the tl-s gauges, then i'll go all out. It's actually extremely easy to my surprise. If you ever need anymore leds, let me know, i have at least 200+ blue and white leds just laying on my table.

Can ya PM me and let me know how I can get some of those white LED's from ya? That would be soooo ssswwwweeeeeeetttttttt!!

i got a quick question would 17022 Neo - Wedge Instrument Panel Bulbs are 12mm (3/8") diameter x 21mm (13/16") high from http://autolumination.com/74.htm [half way down] work as the replacements for our buttons like cruise control and fog lights and sun roof buttons?

no, those are smaller than the neo wedge bulbs sold on autolumination. unforunately for now, the only way to change the cruise/sunroof/etc buttons is to solder your own LED's/resistors.

If you want, I caught these with the friend's phone.. here's how my led conversion came out:

The radio doesn't look like that in person though, I barely see any hot spots unless you try strain your eyes looking for them. Any comments?

damn that looks awesome~!! major props in doing the whole thing. that's quite a bit of soldering! i can't imagine soldering with those cruise control/sunroof/trip computer buttons where those tiny wedge bulbs are...

btw joe did you see my reply above from a few days ago?

the LAST type of bulbs i would love to have are the miniature verison of the neo-wedge bulbs that go in the middle AC temperature display as well as all the buttons on the dash (sunroof, trip select/reset, TCS/cruise, window up/down)... with those i'll be really completing the package!

if you do you are my hero. at least allow me to pay for shipping

so Joe, do you think an average Joe like me, with no prior soldering experience, could take apart the radio and do these wonderful things you have done with your radio?

I've never had soldering experience at all... All you need are three things: Patience, balls, and the materials.

Looks real professional, I like it. I've been trying to come up with something for the shift gate as well, but we'll see. Got any pics from farther away?

www.besthongkong.com Look for the 3mm leds; any leds that are 4000mcd or above are good

shift gate led upgrade

i could not find the letters at walmart, target, staples or any store like that, the smallest letters they have are 1/2 inch, so what i did is i went to fast signs, and took them the black shifter plate with the PRND4321 and they matched up the letters pretty good so its not a hard mod to do, the hardest part is finding the letters

The Resurrection!

Speaking of back from the dead...

To anyone in Canada who has viewed this and had problems locating a 1/4" sticker set (since it seems no site ships to Canada and Walmart/Staples/Michael's don't carry this size ... ) - check out cleansweepsupply.

$11 shipped

I can manufacture any font (well almost any, not sure if I can do japanese lettering) onto a bendable piece of plastic & ship or drop off or pick up (last 2 if local).

That is if there is interest in it. Will be looking into doing this for other vehicle also.

I PM'd MFL and found out he is offering to do this at no charge, and will even pay shipping charges for non-locals.

Sounds like a great deal, but there has to be enough interest to make it worth investing his time and effort.

all you need to do is get some nail polish remover with a q tip, remove the tint behind the letters and tada, no need to make on yourself. be very careful though because you can remove the black around it and mess it up

What about the 2002? or it has to be a 99? And how would you take off the paint without damaging the chrome?

I know this thread is old but, did anyone else have trouble getting the bulbs to fit in? It seems like the stock 74s are so much smaller than the ones suggested to be bought from this thread. Any feedback would be appreciated.
