LED Blinker Bulbs
LED Blinker Bulbs
I went to a japanese auto store and bought me a ppair of new LED blinker bulbs. LED bulbs are white so when i popped them into the headlamp, it didnt make the whoole blinker section of the lamp all blue, like it does with my other hyper white bulbs. the LED's are extremely bright and theyre just as white as the stock lowbeam lights, but the only problem is the ffreakin blinker is out of control. wheni signal, the blinkers spaz out and blinks about 10 times per second. its annoying because my rear blinkers do it too now.
i changed it back to my hyper white bulbs again and it blinks how it normally does. what's causing the LED's to do this? i really like the way the LED's glow and blink, just not the speed of how it blinks.

The reason is because LEDs use less power than a regular bulb. You'll need new resistors for them to work properly. You can try eBay or www.autolumination.com

wow, you 2Gen TLers hahhah just kidding
the reason that it blinks so fast is because it is the vehicles way of warning you that the regular bulb is not pulling the regular amount of power. so the car thinks that the light bulb is out. the led bulb pulls about a tenth of the regular power that a normal bulb does. they have resistors that you can purchase so that you can trick the car into thinking that it is pulling the normal amount of power.
thats why when you put in the regular bulb, it was fine all of a sudden
hope i helped

You can also get resistors from Fry's if there's one nearby. Just get the 3ohm or 6ohm ones depending on the application (see autolumination for installation instructions). Make sure the ones you get from Fry's are rated for 25 watts and not lower so they mimic the stock bulbs.

If you're having trouble with the brightness of LEDs, consider getting the ones with LEDs facing both forward and sideways (eg: the "matrix LED" at autolumination). The sideways facing LEDs shine light into the reflector so you don't just get light in one spot. I have a pair installed in my SUV, and they're decent and a lil better during the day.
those will not fit in a TL. Maximum is 19 wide LEDs, and thats pretty damn bright.
also, those LED 1157 bulbs, are not pure white, they do have a blue hue to them. If they were effective in the day time I would of kept them, but for now I'll be happy to get rid of them.
good night.
