Leases for College Graduate

Does anyone know about the Honda Graduate Program?
http://www.hondafinancialservices.co...l_programs.asp

I am currently a senior at the University of Florida but I will be graduating this year. So I qualify for this. I haven't asked the dealer about it, but wondered if any of you knew about it or any of the details of it. I have great credit (never even came close to paying a bill late) for being a 22 year old and I do have a good job currently. But I know I don't have stellar credit just based on the fact that I AM 22 and haven't had any major purchases like a house. As in my other post, I am looking at a 3.2TL because I think its a wonderful car and it fits within my budget.

I know lexus does that.... but i also know you would never want a lexus! Anyways, I'm really not sure about Acura's program. Go ahead and ask the dealer, but talk to a few dealers about it. For instance, one dealer was going to charge me $1206 for a body kit, others were charging me $900-$930.... check it out.

Never heard of a college grad program for Acura, even asked about it when I went in to purchase.

Lexus has an ok deal.

Ford has one as well.

Not really much though. Don't worry too much about getting that deal since it's not going to have a major effect on how much everthing costs. Just try to negotiate the best deal you can.

They should have that deal going on... Honda finance still is Acura's lending company.

This message is more for agean but hopefully someone else can answer. I am a college student who will be graduating and I do have a job currently and I will have one when I graduate. My credit is good but not stunningly good because I haven't made any major purchases. I've never made any late payments or anything.

After talking to my dealer but 5 minutes ago I asked him about this program and he said it was for college grads with no credit. I have credit. Quite a bit of it actually, for my age but I am still woried paranoid that i wont get approved.

Apparently American Honda Finance simply determines if you get the car or don't. They don't have fluctuating scales with different interest rates. Is being approved something I should worry about?

I hate all these damn unknowns.

drgn65...

all i can say is good luck. when i got my lease in august, i was actually pretty well established with credit. i had been paying for my previous maxima for almost 3 years, no late payments. plus, my dad wanted to help me establish credit, so we put all the college tuition bills in my name when he paid them. besides that, ive been paying a credit card for about 2 years, and various phone bills, etc.

it all depends on your credit history, how much you're making now, and a million other variables. at our age, they have a ton of reasons to deny us, and its hard to prove that we will be responsible without a prior history.

good luck!

agean,

I have a had a credit card for more than 4 years. (Actually, I have a bunch of unused credit cards). My bills are relatively low in comparison to my income. I've had a cell phone for 2 years and I paid many of my parent's bills (which were in my name) for over 6 years like home phone, cable, power. Was your Maxima actually in your name?

I am kinda hoping that where my credit report stops that Honda Finance graduate program will make up...

drgn...

seems like you're in a pretty decent position. the maxima was in my name, co-signed by my father, because at that time (19), i couldnt get enough credit in my own name. im not exactly sure how much that effects anything.

one of the big factors when your applying for a lease is the amount of cash you put up front. it shows them that youre responsible enough to have saved that much already. i've been told that by several people, but i guess thats a judgement call by the dealer.

good luck bro.

Well,

I fit into the college grad program. I have 4 months left of school, I have a job offer and after clearing up a major blunder on my credit report...I have perfect credit.

I put a deposit for them to hold a Blue 2003 3.2TL w/ spoiler. All I need to do now is drive down there have them inspect my Duango (they are buying it from me) and I should get it (hopefully)

Oh yea,

Since I am getting rid of my 99 Durango, I obviouisly need to make sure its in the best condition. It is in perfect condition outside of a few nicks on the doors from inconsiderate people opening their door into mine. I have to go buy some touch up paint. I've never actually applied touch up paint before. Is there a prefered way to do it in order to make it look natural?
