large resonator removal
large resonator removal
i have searched pretty extensively on the topic and i'll probably have it done this weekend. but i stil have a few questions.
will the sound produced actually be similar to comptechs or other exhaust or will it just be kinda louder? Deeper? at what rpm range?
Also, i know it is a fairly insignificant mod, but will i get the 1-2 hp that you get from the comptechs and will i lose any low end power?
also, someone said that you cannot replace the large resonator. this doesn't make sencse considering it is just piping. anybody know definatively?
this will be a semi-temporary thing as i plan on exhaust eventually, i just cant justify spending hundreds on 1-2 hp before getting headers and cai. thanks for any help

i have the large resonator removed on mine, there is a slight sound difference in sound (lower and deaper) slight difference in high rpm power nothing large just seems to continue to pull a little stronger. i also have the comptech's too with the quiet tip inserts, for the long trips with the family. but the sound is nice factory and comptech with the large resonator removed. and if you ever want to put it back on just bring it to a muffler shop again.
i just had this mod done a week ago, and well let me tell you , at first it was barley noticeable, but then a day later you can really tell, i personally feel that they sound just like the comptechs, the deep tone i was after only last at 2000rpm to about 2500, after that the noise is about the same maybe a lil deeper, but between 2000-2500 is where you can actually hear the drone inside the car, cost only 30 bucks to remove, as far as power gains, there should be none cus nothing really changes in the flow design.

thanks, that was exactly what i was hoping to hear. 1-2 hp is negligable but i am excited to hear the deeper sound. the tl loks agressive and drives agressive, but sounds a little poosy, hope this will remedy that
