Lap Tops used in TLS
Lap Tops used in TLS
Has anyone messed around with the port that is between
the seat warming buttons in the 2002 TLS???
I know that the dealer would use this to do diagonstic
test but couldn't a lap top be hooked to it?
I know people that hook up Lap Tops to cars to configure
fuel mixture richness and boost control for turbos.
I spoke with another friend of mine that said a read-write chip
would be needed and possible some type of port adaper.

Most likely not. Not only you need an special adapter, but the right comunication protocol and other stuff. That port connects to the ECU. Someone said that Honda is not releasing their code and protocols.

I have the software and diagnostic cable. It's just a serial cable with a molded connector at the end. The software allows you to simultaneously monitor two our of a possible 15 or so points at a time (i.e. RPM, vehicle speed, intake air temperature, fuel trim, calculated engine load, coolant temperature, etc.) You can also read and clear codes that would cause your check engine light to come on. I've also used it to see whether or not CAIs really work (and the AEM does!).
Very useful tool.

Also, AEM?? are u referring to exhaust, intake, cam gears..??
CAIs??
Damn Ron, I didn't know you had such a cool tool. Bring it to the meet. How did you get it?

You can get a similar scan tool from http://www.obd2.com. CAI = Cold Air Intake... and that's the AEM unit I was testing.
I'll bring it to the meet if I can make it. There's an event at Moroso that weekend and some friends from New Jersey and California will be there.
Lastly... the software is no good without the cable, so it really won't do you much good by itself.
