l.e.d. cluster help. pics

I need help with the led cluster. I put in white leds but they seem to be a purplish-blue and the gauges are dim and the part where the mileage is are bright. Any input is appreciated.

did you put them in all the sockets? they may not be a wide enough angle led also.

As far as I know, there is actually a light blue lens over the gauges. When combined with the regular yellow light from a halogen bulb, it creates the light green that you see on all the lit gauges/instrument panel. If you swab the bulbs to pure white, you will end up with a light blue cluster/buttons since you'll have white light coming through the blue-tinted lenses.
In terms of having the light output appear over a wider area, I've heard of people shaving the LEDs a bit so the light spreads.
By the way, I actually quite like the colour of yours now...I wouldn't mind it at all. In order to get a deeper, pure blue, I think you have to use blue LEDs, like what Tatewaki did.

u cant shave it to make the beam wider, atleast not that i know of. as far as teh color are you sure that they are white led's? because they shouldnt be coming thru blue with out them being blue. the factory would be lit up bleu if there was.

I'm pretty sure that its a white led becasue the cover is white. if it was blue it would be a blue cover.

all led bulbs are clear... regardless of what color they light up.

if you shave the head of the bulb, the light will spread out more. use a knife and chop it off or sand it down.

also, how much $$ will it take to get you to do this for me?!?! (seriously though)

You might want to try contacting Tatewaki. He's done the LED conversion with blue LEDs. He's posted pics in another thread. I don't believe he altered any of the LEDs though, so I think he has a few hot spots.

If you try to diffuse the led for a wider angle, you also lose some of its brightness. I ended up using a blue mylar film with a bright white bulb replacement...the color is more even but is not as bright as I like.

I took them all out and put it back to stock. Can anyone tell me where I can buy bright white leds? I'm going to start over. In the mean time my dash is still torn apart. haha
