Koni Shocks & Comptech Springs

So, my car has 55k on it and I just swamped out my stock shocks for KONI yellows. I kept my Comptech springs and anti - sway bars, which have been on the car since it had 1k miles on it.

Broke in the shocks with everything set to minimum for about 150 miles of Manhatten driving. Then turned the fronts up to about %50 percent. I left the backs set to minimum.

The ride is great!!!

One thing though, my girlfriend said, she could tell the car "looked" different after I did the shock swap.

Do new shocks tend to add a slight lift to a car, compared to old shocks? Also, there are only two spring perch settings on my konis. I'm currently using the upper perches. Is that the right setting or should I be using the lower spring perches?

Glad to hear it. I'm waiting for Koni to make shocks of the '04s. One word of advice though: If you set the front shocks stiffer than the rear, you will increase understeer.

Thanks for the heads up. I need to re-adjust things anyway. That's good encouragement to whip out that back seat again...

I doubt there would be much difference in how tall it sits unless your stock shocks were REALLY shot. Probably just placebo effect.

And yes, I'd set the front to ever so slightly softer than the rear.

awww man, that sounds great! i cant wait till i need new shocks, then i'll put in springs as well. Im thinkin either Comptech or the H&R 50103's. But what is the price difference between say Koni Yellow's or Tokico Blue's and Stock Shocks?

You should be able to find the prices on this site.
The KONIs were about $278.00 per pair for the fronts and $278.00 per pair for the backs.

The Tokico Illuminas are $232.00 per pair for the front and $235.00 per pair for the backs.

The Tokico Blues are $154.00 per pair for the front and $164.00 per pair for the the backs.

... come to think of it, I do feel like there's a little too much body role right now. Is that because my backs are set to minimum? hmm....

there are 3 perches ? u should be using the middle one. Unless you have the koni's with 5 perches, where u should still be using the middle.

No, i think he means that H&R OE plus Koni is slightly higher than H&R OE plus stock shocks.

I know that's what I meant when I was talking about the Comptech springs w/ stock shocks vs Comptech Springs w/ KONI shocks...

Also, I turned up the damping on the rears this afternoon at lunch time. I turned them up to about %50 ( one full turn ).

I can feel a serious difference in the ride when I do that. The rear is much crisper now. Cornering feels better.

I think I'm going to leave them there.

My KONIs seemed to only come with two perch positions. All of them are set to the upper positions. However, as I look at the car, it does seem like the shocks are still settling out (... or this really is a placebo affect ).

ok... running at ~%70 front and ~%50 rear.

All I can say is that damn car is wicked tight. That's what I call rebound damping!!!

What a ride....

Has anyone used the Koni Neuspeed perch adjustments to even out the comptech drop and get rid of the raked look?
